On my personal WiFi with the Link running full tilt it fills available bandwidth like no-ones business and actually makes it hard to use any other devices with my router.
Doing this on shared WiFi could possibly shut other people out from being able to connect or use Internet which might be bad news if people start reporting that.
What I'd do, if the PC isn't too far away, is get a long Ethernet cable and/or cables and a hub to connect them up directly. Another possiblity is to get your own Wireless router to connect the PC or Link via WiFi and the other via Ethernet.
Try connecting the Ethernet ports between the Steam Link and the PC, NO ROUTERS!
It worked for me when I connected the ethernet cable between the two without using the router, wireless is still recommended for internet connection.
