Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows not supported??
Got my Steam Link today. Disappointed to find that it does not recognise my "Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows". This is the dongle that lets you use regular Xbox 360 wireless controllers on your PC.

There is no way I'm going to buy different controllers so I'm gutted I will have to send the Link back unless support for this is coming. Seems a bit of an oversight.

Anyone else had any luck with it?

Mine works fine but I can't turn my link on with it, however I also have wireless Logitech keyboard attached as well so turn the Link on with that. My official wireless 360 controller for windows works as if it's plugged in my PC and has full force feedback and all the controls work as normal with no input lag.

Mine's been working fine. The only issue I noticed was that the guide button would continually flash instead of lock on the 1 position. The software update took care of that though. Is it lighting up when you plug it in?

Mine works fine. I didn't even have to set anything up, just plugged in dongle, turned on controllers and they worked. Did you have the dongle plugged in before trying to connect the controllers/turning the link on?

Are you all aware of a possible distinction between a "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows" (which I think DDIGITALDNR is referring to) and "Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows" which is what I have. I'm wondering if they are different and incompatible wireless receivers.

I have investigated and I think my receiver possibly has a blown fuse (talk about bad luck - the day I get my steam link!). It seems its common enough that there are repair steps on the web like this https://replayproject.wordpress.com/2010/10/09/how-to-repair-microsoft-xbox-360%E2%84%A2-wireless-gaming-receiver-for-windows%C2%AE/

Where did you buy your adapter? One of the most popular wireless adapters on Amazon is not an official Microsoft product and requires you to manually install the drivers on the host machine.

Edit:

Copied from an Amazon review:

"Here's how to set it up:

1. Go to Device Manager
2. Select the "Unknown Device"
3. Choose to update the driver under the Driver tab
4. Choose the 'Browse for a driver' (not the exact words but close)
5. Tell it that you want to pick from the list of device drivers
6. Choose the "Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class" option
7. Pick the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver"

After completing these steps, you controller should be able to connect to your PC. You'll recognize this by the chime sound when turning on the controller. Without restarting your host machine, unplug the adapter and plug it into your steam link. Ensure the link is powered on, and then hit the sync button on your receiver and the home button on your controller. Sometimes the home button will continue to show the revolving circle of lights despite it being connected, so test out some buttons so see it it's working correctly.

After this point, everything should normally, including vibration and the ability to power on the link by hitting the home button. Hope this helps.

Yup mine is an official adapter, I bought it at least 5 years ago. I think it's just bad timing.

Having said that, my replacement will be a cheap knock-off from eBay as they are 1/3rd the price :) Cant imagine it will be that much less reliable...
