I've updated my graphics drivers !!!!!
Not with the Windows Installer !!!
I went to this site and have downloaded the driver..... www.driverscollection.com
Now........ it's working :)
Good luck guys :)
Really i think it lies on the driver.
Its your Card... https://de.driverscollection.com/?H=GeForce%20GTX%20760&By=NVidia
Tried it over another friends house on his Sony TV using two different machines running steam, all have the same result. I'm beginning to think I have a faulty box even though it works through my amp.
Anyone else got any news?
When you use your receiver you must be using 2 HDMI cables, one of them perhaps is short (from receiver to TV). Recommend you try a few different HDMI cables between Link and TV directly, use the provided one initially, but also try to not use it by using other cables. Perhaps the cable is bad. But that wouldn't explain you get kicked back out of the game (sounds more like game/driver crashing at the PC).
What resolution are you using at your host PC, and do you have a multiple monitor setup? Try setting the host PC to 1920x1080 to make sure your graphics card not trying to encode a much higher resolution.
Also try some different games.
Tried every single tutorial and nothing worked, so i contacted D-link support (i have a 880L btw) and they asked me if there was any ports that Steam recommends to be open, so i looked that up and found a page from Steam that says that for streaming you should open the following ports
UDP: 27036
TCP: 27037
so go to your steam link network config look what IP your link is using and then go and open the ports for that specific IP, after i did that my steam link worked just fine over wifi.
what pisses me off is that in the steam link "SUPPORT PAGE" doesnt say anything about this, no wonder why Steam keeps being called as one of the worst companies in America.
btw i sent them like 15 emails regarding my problem and so far i got no response.
let me know if this help guys :)
Tried over 7 different cables to no avail.
Single monitor setup at 1080p.
The humming in the background when there is no sound (when it does not work) interests me as it is a indicator that it will work.
All but given up on it to be honest. Think I'll raise a ticket to get a replacement.
Been looking at the nvidia shield tv, wouldn't have bothered getting this if I knew that existed. Been using an app called moonshine and it supports the nvidia game streaming technology.
GTAV running on my tablet no problems, very impressed!
Then I did some test on the host side (PC side). I finally realised that by disabling the "Prioritize network traffic" in the In-Home Streaming's advanced host options, all my black screen problems were finally solved!!!
Below this option, it says "If you have a newer router, you might also turn on network traffic prioritization". In my case, I have an Apple Airport Extreme and it seems it does not really like the Steam's traffic prioritization...
Anyway, for those of you with the black screen with mouse cursor effect after trying to connect to host, try disabling this option. It saved me from throwing my Steam Link into trash!!!
im not 100% sure if i am correct on this although i was also wondering ..
if your ethernet card or on board ethernet and router support traffic prioritization then a network switch was added to the network that does not have native support built in for traffic prioritization and the steam link is connected to the network switch could or would this effect the network traffic for the steam link ?
hope i can help you guys. The biggest Problem i had with blackscreen and connecting steam link with my PC was Programs like Rivatuner or Fraps. After remove those Programs all Run fine!
So if you have Run Programs live this, try to remove them. All Oberbayern Programs to Show Fps or other stats are problematic for steam link.
My Steam Link and my gaming PC (Windows 8.1) which runs Steam are connected via Ethernet to the same subnet behind a Raspberry Pi (configured for routing). The PC and the Steam Link had access to the Internet but connecting the Steam Link to my PC always ended in the Steam Link (during the connection attempt it showed a black screen for several seconds) saying that my PC is offline (or Steam not running).
After some network testing I found out that Windows was blocking ICMP requests (and probably any Steam Link connection attempts) because of the security settings on the Ethernet connection. It was set to public network, after setting this to home network to enable file and printer sharing the Steam Link finally managed to connect to Steam on my PC.
