Playback user video files through "Video" in Steam Library.

Hello.

There really needs to ba a way to add user files to the "Video" section of the Steam Library for playback.

I have tried alternatives and they just don't work very well:
- Adding explorer.exe and trying to play with mpv does not work well
- Adding Kodi works OK, however there are considerable troubles bringing up the Steam Overlay (and this is kinda overkill)
- Adding VLC does not work as "Media" > "Open File" brings up an explorer window which has troubles (hard to navigate, mouse can't move across whle screen) and when the video actually plays it only takes up the top left of the screen (its a 1080p file).

Therefore there is currently no user frieldly method of playing a video file using the steam link, considering that steam has an entire video playback and library mechanism users should be able to add their own local media files into the library to be played back.

If you set the VLC interface to 'Minimal' it takes up the entire screen. To view a video file just right click > Select 'Open Media' > Open File (then just add the video file you wish to view). Hope that helps.

Agree that this should be a thing. Especially since I use Steam for my Music, Video would also be nice.

For everyone coming from the future, I can confirm that Skelebone's solution works as described. Just navigate Games -> Add Non Steam Game to Library and select VLC from your PC. I can now stream my public domain video collection to my TV, using a Steam Controller!
