I must be missing something ("no host computers found") *SOLVED!*

Hello, I bought the Link recently and connected it directly to the router (to have the best connection), and since my PC's internet cable doesn't reach the router, I decided to move my PC closer to it, connect it directly to the router and test if everything was working fine.

Well it wasn't! Steam Link powered up, updated, and even found my wireless controller. So far great! And then told me "no host computers found"... and it's been that way since. My PC is connected to the internet, running Steam and working fine, but Link won't recognize it. I turned Windows Firewall off, but I don't know what else to do.
Do I have to config the Link, like when you have to config a new internet router? I'm not very knowledgeable in hardware (or network) stuff. Thank you!

I didn't have "Enable Streaming" activated under Steam Stettings>In-Home Streaming (if it's checked, uncheck and re-check it and it should work)"

Currently my steam link and my PC are both connected via ethernet cable to the same router

I tried connecting my PC via Wi-Fi and the steam link through cable and it also didn't work, do you think it might if both are connected wirelessly?

Try bypassing the router and connect the link directly into the computer and see if the problem persists. If the link still doesn't see the computer then we know the issue is with the link or PC. If it works fine on a direct connection then that would imply an issue with the router.

Funny thing happened to me. I was setup and streaming on the network earlier today and then the thing suddenly lost sight of the network and I haven't been able to get it to find it again. It's pretty close to the network router too. I'm like within about 12 feet of it. I wonder if its a firmware issue in the current release because I connected fine before it wanted to update it. It was after the update that I suddenly lost connection mid stream and haven't been able to see my home network to reconnect. It's kinda similar to the not finding a host computer except that its literally offline and unable to connect to the host in my case. I might have to try a direct line connection once I get some ethernet line that's long enough for it.

I tried this just now, the Link still won't find the computer. I'm pretty sure the problem is with my PC because the Link my friend bought (we got them at the same time) works fine for him...

I did a factory reset (under "Settings") but it's updating automatically. Damn it!

Are you running your PC on a wireless connection? If so disable wireless and plug your PC into the modem with an ethernet cable. Do you get Internet? If not your ethernet drivers may have never been installed or may be corrupted and need a fresh install.

Also always make sure to test with two different ethernet cables in case one isn't functioning. It happens.

I was having the same issue, yet I'd previously been streaming from the host to another PC. After reading Art's fix, I went into settings to see that Enable Streaming was already checked. I unchecked and re-checked it, and all of a sudden the Link could find the PC. Problem solved.

Well, after much frustration, a couple factory resets, completely reconfiguring my network half a dozen times...uncheck, re-check fixed it instantly. Thanks for the suggestion Johnny!

Holy mackerolly, Valve, PLEASE put this on your trouble shooting site for not being able to connect to steam link. This is stated no where on the device and not in the expected FAQ section.

This is a huge support oversight.

I am guessing checking enable was not your problem? It is not mine, either. This is my exact situation, and nothing has changed it. Did you solve it?

I think how I resolved this problem was going into steam Big Picture mode on the Pc, and look for the settings for streaming to the pc or from the pc etc. Pretty sure that's how I fixed it. GL
