I tried connecting my PC via Wi-Fi and the steam link through cable and it also didn't work, do you think it might if both are connected wirelessly?
I did a factory reset (under "Settings") but it's updating automatically. Damn it!
Also always make sure to test with two different ethernet cables in case one isn't functioning. It happens.
I'm such a dumbass. I found the problem! (That's what happens when you don't go to the Support page first...)
I didn't have "Enable Streaming" activated under Steam Stettings>In-Home Streaming
Sorry everyone who wasted their time trying to help this old noob. Hope it also helps someone out there who has the same problem. Now let's play some games (on TV, at last)!
You're not the only dumbass.... was the same here...
Holy mackerolly, Valve, PLEASE put this on your trouble shooting site for not being able to connect to steam link. This is stated no where on the device and not in the expected FAQ section.
This is a huge support oversight.
I am guessing checking enable was not your problem? It is not mine, either. This is my exact situation, and nothing has changed it. Did you solve it?
+1 idiot here
