For gamepad, make sure all bindings use the controller, and set the trackpad to joystick or mouse-like joystick.
For KB+M, set all bindings to KB+M and for the mouse/triggers make sure you disable analog input in advanced.
If the game supports KB+M and gamepad at the same time that sgould do it. Otherwise the gamepad set up should avoid the crossover problems.
I used my Xbox 360 wired controller to play "Road Not Taken", but when using the analog sticks to move in-game, the Windows mouse moves as well, and creates a ruckus. (the mouse pointer eventually moves out of the game window, and I end up seeing the content on another monitor). It's basically unplayable. The controller seems to be acting like both a mouse and a controller.
Help! Fix! Something!
I'm having the same issue with:
Steam Link
Host OS: OS X El Capitan
Controller: Wireless Xbox 360
Games are unplayable.
