Steam Link

Steam Link

Works great for 10 minutes, then seems to lose connection to the network.
Using steam link over wireless network.

After playing for about 10 minutes or so, the steam link freezes, resets, then can't find my home network until I do a hard reset.

I'm wondering if this might have something do with my router settings. Any suggestions? Thanks

I'm having the exact same issue except I'm running on a wired network. Are you using a Mac host?

Using a PC for my host.

UPDATE: Looks like it was a setting in my router. I have a TP-link Archer C5. There is a default setting "NAT boost enabled". I have disabled NAT boost and it seems to be running fine. Will have to test further to make sure.

What I think was hapenning is the NAT boost would shut out my steam link after a while because it was taking up so much bandwidth over the network. TP-link doesn't do a good job of describing what NAT boost is, but it must be some sort of security/regulating feature to shut out devices using extreme amounts of bandwidth.

I am having the same issue but it happens randomly and often. My router is a Netgear AC1750. It doesn't have a NAT boost type feature. I made the NAT open even and it still happens. Any help would be great. I noticed after the Steam Link resets it can't find any wifi signals. I live in an apartment and normally it lists many signals.

You're describing the exact issue I was having. After resetting, the steam link would not find any (of the many) networks in my area.

I have used the steam link for about 4 more hours after adjusting my router settings and things still seem to work fine. This makes me think it must be a router settings issue.

I would try playing with the network settings listed here

I have now followed the setting guide you listed. I checked client isolation is off. I opened all ports listed. I added the steam links wireless MAC address to my QoS list and made it highest priority. I don't know if its the latest build of steam link or changing those setting but now the issue is worse. Today I tried watching a video saved on my pc and steam link did what we have been talking about every couple of minutes about. 22 minute video I had to unplug steam link 7 times during it to watch the whole thing.

For those who don't have the same router, I had the exact same problem and no Nat boost option.
I solved it by disabling Hardware nat (called nat acceleration sometimes) This feature cause problems with low latency applications. I guess it's the same thing that Nat boost does.
Works flawlessly now in 5ghz.

On my router the NAT options are, "secured" and "open". Default was secured and I changed it to open. It is still on open and the disconnect issues still happen often. The only other NAT option is a check box for "Disable SIP ALG". I have that unchecked. I am going to run Steam Link with that option checked for a while and see if that helps.

Apparently this is a known issue for Valve. It does not stirctly involve router settings. It is a problem they are currently working to resolve with the company that makes the components of the Steam Link.

See slouken's response here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/0/485623406941817265/

Someone needs to buy slouken a drink or two. I feel like he's doing a great job fielding questions and issues.
