I had the same issue. I changed a setting on my Samsung TV from 16:9 to AutoFit (I believe that was the name). Check your picture settings on the TV itself.

Well, there's a setting on the link itself to scale the picture. Should be in the options somewhere. But I don't know if that will solve your issue if it is only happening on one side of the screen.

I've only tested a handful of games on my Steam Link so far.
For me the issue I have is that for the Big Picture menus as well as some games such as Pool Nation FX fit to screen as prescribed. Other games like Screencheat have the bottom and right cut off. It is a 1080i TV and is about 8 years old (cutting edge HD technology when it was new) but that hasn't caused any issues with other devices including Satellite TV, Chromecasts, directly plugged in PCs, etc.

This is the options screen before you connect to a PC.

Steam link will stream whatever resolution your PC monitor is set at. Change the settings in game to match your TV resolution. In my case, I have an older 1680x1050 16:10 resolution monitor streaming to my 1920 x1080 plasma TV. A 1050 resolution creates black bars on the side of my TV screen, so I set the game resulution to 1280x720 so it will fill my screen.

Thanks, on my LG television it was called "Just Scan". Other settings (even auto) cut off the top and bottom slightly.
