How to easily pair the Steam-Controller directly to the Steam-Link (without using a dongle)?

How can I easily pair my steam controller to the steam link?

The way I did it was:

Connect Controller to the Link with a cable -->
Turn on Link --> Start the stream --> Go to “Settings” --> Go to “Controller” -->
Click on “Add a Steam Controller” --> Disconnect the cable from the Controller -->
Hold the X button while powering on the Steam-Controller -->
Enter the Code with your Steam-Controller --> Press “OK”.

Is there an easier way?

You can also easily do this by unplugging other input devices, starting the Link, and pressing X+Steam button on the controller.

Thank you very much it worked. I tried this before with the ps3 controller plugged in, that is why it didn't work. I kinda feel like an idiot.

If I try this, as soon as I disconnect the cable from my controller, the "Add A Controller" screen disappears. I've only been able to use my controller if the dongle is plugged into the Link.

Just what is the Steam Link? I have Steam downloaded and I can go to Big Picture mode and all...but Steam Link? I, too, am having problems getting my controller to connect.

The Steam Link is a small device to control and play Steam games streaming from your PC to a TV, usually in another room. If you're trying to connect your Steam Controller to a PC directly, you need to use the Steam Controller forums.
