Controller input causing audio stuttering
So I set up my steam link, and for the most part everything is working fine. Barely any lag, video looks great, etc... However I am finding games unplayable due to a weird audio stutter issue I'm running into, and it's only when I'm performing inputs with my controller; this is especially noticeable when I drag my thumb across the right track pad, or use an analog stick, which will cause it to stutter like crazy.

Has anyone had this issue as well? I wonder if it's due to to my audio drivers on my host PC.

I'm having this as well. It works perfectly, except when I swipe a touchpad or move the thumbstick. I feel like it's sending a very high amount of updates and is choking some other resource. Hopefully Valve can ID the problem. Mine is occurring between a hardwired PC (host) to router and wifi (5GHz 802.11ac) to the Link with a single controller.

Update: tested via wired connection, NO more audio stutter. I have a pretty damn nice router, wonder if there's some interference between the controller signal and the wifi signal.

I'm getting this as well. Switching to wired connection fixes the issue, but I simply cannot do that for regular use in my house.

Tried a wired connection as well, and that fixed the problem. However considering the fact that my steam link is literally 5 feet away from the router (ASUS Wireless-N900, RT-N66U) , that shouldn't be an issue in the first place. I'm guessing you are correct, and there is either some interference, or something is up with the built in wifi.

As a test case I decided to try streaming from my media pc right under it (also on wifi). I played the same game, used the same controller, and had no issues whatsoever. My media PC was running on a 2.4Ghz frequency, and my steam link was on 5Ghz, both with full bars on their connection display.

Guess I will leave it on wired until the issue is fixed.

Same issue here, audio stuttering while controller input is occurring. I will try wired tonight to see if that's any better (though this wont be a long term solution). My set up is as follows:

Win10 host PC wired (gigabit) to my WRT1900AC router (running OpenWRT v15.05). Steam Link connected via 5GHz WiFi about 10-15 feet away from the router. Wireless Steam Controller.

This is the only major issue I have with my Link at the moment. If this is resolved I'd consider it pretty perfect.

Probably interferences with 2,4GHz Wifi and 2,4GHz Bluetooth, try wired or 5GHz wifi as a workaround

We're still investigating this, but we currently think that we can resolve it in a firmware update soon.

Good to know Henry, thanks. I was a little worried when I saw that other post saying it it will probably be fixed with a steam update. Also I saw a steam update that mentioned audio issues at high bitrates.

But surely the behavior observed here does seem to be steam link related. Not bandwidth or whatsoever. It certainly feels like as if whenever controller input is processed or send back to the host machine that the decoding/rendering thread is blocked for a very small amount of time.

But thats a blunt diagnosis from outsidde. I'm sure your dev team will figure it out. Keep the updates coming! :-)

Thanks Henry, hope it's resolved soon.

Having this problem, even after a new Steam update that mentions fixing it.

Got a firmware update for the Steam Controller tonight and now there's NO MORE audio stutter during controller input. I now feel like the Steam Link is 100% operational for me and works amazingly! Thank you Valve.

Didn't work for me unfortunately. Also the latest steam link beta firmware exhibits the same issue.

Yeah, I may have spoken too soon. Played some more today and, while it seemed better than usual, I definitely still had some audio stuttering during input. I have no idea why I wasn't getting it last night (in two separate games).

I'm having the same problem, and have been emailing Valve to try and figure it out. What I'm trying to deduce is what causes it to happen. It looks like all of us are using 5 GHz AC to connect the Link to the router, so maybe that's it?

Desperately want to solve this problem before my review goes live :/

Same problem here. Very odd. I'm curious as to what everybody here has for mouse drivers on their host PC. I'm running Logitech Setpoint.

Installed new firmware update and continuing to have the same issue.

NightHawk Router 5hz
Good/decent internet speeds (50 Mbps)
Steamlink is 7 feet away
