Xbox 360 WIRED controller not working on Steam Link
I just got my Steam Link in today. Keyboard and mouse work. Thats good. And wired xbox 360 controller works on the main screens (big pic mode) but does not work in game! Ive tried it on games me to be played (or have the option of) with the 360 controller and have proven to work before but now wired 360 wont work in these games. And yes i rather use mouse and keyboard 2 but for racing games wired 360 controller is best. Ive tried to even mess with the options in game and still nothing. Any1 else have this issue? How can i fix it? Please :-/

Update:: just a small few games work. But alot of the games ive used with steam big picture mode dont reconize the controller anymore with Steam Link.... any ideas??
I believe this might be the games itself not fully supporting controllers. The games I tried that does not fully support controllers will give me a warning before launching the game. But if I launch games with the controller icon, it works flawlessly. Btw, I've never try using a controller on a game's menu that doesn't fully support controllers from my computer, I've always navigate the menus with my m/kb then play the game with my controller.

Steam link doesn't support the virtual keyboard and mouse using the xbox controller, you must use the steam controller for games that are not fully controller supported. At least that I can tell.

Having both the steam controller and xbox controller connected causes issues for me.
So I the only work around I found is to use a keyboard and mouse till the game actually launches and then use the controller after its running.
Yes. All Partial controller games worked as thought on big picture mode on tv. But when i used the steam link, my wired 360 controller wont work at all on those same games ive played with partial controller aupport. It seems like with the steam link, u can only play full controller supported games with the wired 360 controller and the partial ones wont work at all...? So steam link made it worse than having 47727273486969939101 wires ran 58472737757482 feet to my tv. Now racing games are pointless..... any fix for this? Other than waiting for the steam controller to be out in stores to buy.
Do you have a USB or bluetooth keyboard and mouse connected? Maybe you can force the controller to be used once in the game? Just random thought.

Which games are you having trouble with?
keyboard and mouse but ive tried unplugging and just using the controller. some games work and the interface of steam works but the wired 360 controller wont work in partial controller games. before (with long hdmi) it worked
Same Problem here! Where can we report Steam Link bugs?

Ive receiced my Steam Link today. It does run my Xbox 360 Controller only in Steam Link, as soon as i choose my computer to connect, it doesnt work at all. Cant choose anything in Bigpicture, no button is working.

My host is an Ubuntu.

Help :-(
This is ♥♥♥♥. Im no longer using it...
Hi i cannot use wierless keyboard and mouse with these games, Starcraft II, Mass Effect 1, Star Citizen the rest are working fine on those i just see picture and sound but i cannot click on anything if i do from the PC that is in another part of the house its working but i see only stream from my pc on tv then:) Any ideas xd and happy holidays
I HAD to buy the Steam Controller..... which that as well u can't use outside of Steam..... $100+ could have bought a Xbox 1 controller and hmdi to cat6 and just ran a wire. The Steam controller works great tho. Just have to mess with the settings alot... I play inverted but with the new controller I'm trying to play normal just because it's a pain to set everything and with the mouse inverting does feel normal
I am experiencing this too - "partial" support games not recognising a wired xbox 360 controller that is plugged into the steam link. My solution at the moment is to use a wireless xbox 360 controller and get a cheap wireless USB PC xbox 360 receiver (do a search on eBay for "PC USB Xbox 360 Receiver") and plug that directly into the PC. Fortunately, my the wireless xbox controller and receiver are in range of one another so this works well. I would much prefer if the game recognised the controller plugged into the steam link however, but maybe this will come in the future of steam link.
What FINALLY worked for me was to go to the Steam Controller Options (for the game), and under Controller Application Options, changed the "Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers" to "Forced Off".

Turns out the Steam Link was trying to use my 360 controller as a Steam Controller all along. Note: this was for a non-Steam game that booted through Uplay, so YMMV.
