I dont have a game mode on my TV but I played DOTA2 when I first hooked the steam link up and when i got to the edge fo the screen, the screen scrolled just like it does on the PC.. I was impressed.
It's the mouse peoblem I don't like.
I'm using a wired connection and logitec wireless mouse and keyboard.
You've got an odd one. If you don't find a solution here, consider opening a support ticket against Steam Link:
https://support.steampowered.com/newticket.php?appid=353380
I took my gaming mouse off the streaming pc and hooked it up to the steam link. It has a pointer speed adjustment on the mouse and that made it go even better, but the audio would crackle if I moved the mouse to fast.
I'm not going to buy a mouse that cost as much as the steam link to be able to have a fast mouse. I also shouldn't have to make my streaming pc mouse pointer so fast it is almost uncontrollable to make the steam link mouse move at normal speed.
There should be a pointer speed setting built into the steam link.
I would point you back to the support link that I provided earlier. My personal suspicion, based on this additional information, is that you may have driver issues with your PC. If you are able to, I would suggest updating the drivers for both your motherboard and, if there is a special driver for your mouse, to install/update that as well.
If it was a driver issue, the slow mouse wouldnt be a problem on the steam link connect screen.
Before I'm even connected to a pc.
It looks like you've nailed it. If you have the mouse problem while using the PC through Steam Link, and you have the mouse problem while inside the Steam Link's internal menus (not connected to a PC), then the compatibility problem is between the Steam Link hardware and the mouse.
Your most likely options are:
1] Replace the mouse (which you've already indicated that you don't want to do)
2] Return the Steam Link
3] Accept the issue
4] Open a ticket, see if they want to address your particular mouse, and wait to see if they fix
By the way, which mouse do you have?
EDIT: I did not notice audio crackling, only the slow sensitivity is a problem. And it feels like mouse acceleration is on, which would be a desirable option to switch on/off as well.
Does screen size make a difference? I mean, 1080p is 1080p, right? So it shouldn't matter if it's streaming from a 32 inch to a 60 inch?
In steam go to
>Steam
>Settings
>Controller
>Desktop Configuration (Controller and inputs appear)
>Click "Mouse"
-Sensitivity bar will be on the left
voila
