Steam Link not finding Host PC
I can't add my pc even though I have a strong connection on my wireless network and even with a direct ethernet connection (same network)

I was wondering if I'm missing something, if I have to install anything or whatever.

Any feedback or help would be great. :)

Did you guys try to remove the power cable of the Steam Link for 30 seconds and returned it afterwards? This worked for me. After that I could immediately connect to my Host PC. And I had to do that only once - since that the Steam Link finds my Host PC every time.

EDIT: Steam Link is wireless and my host PC is wired.

Didn't work i tried it twice

I'm not sure if you tried this or not but I've happened to found an alternate way to connect to Steam Link:

Try connecting the Ethernet ports between the Steam Link and the PC, NO ROUTERS!

It worked for me when I connected the ethernet cable between the two without using the router, wireless is still recommended for internet connection.

I had the same.. What I found odd is that very first time I started up the Link, switched HDMI inputs, it was already telling me it was updating then rebooted.

The first update bar screamed passed like it had an update pending already or was just going through the motions. I worked on it for an hour and could get it connected to my 5ghz guest network, subnet 10.xx however it wouldn't connect to my LAN 5ghz as I wanted. I fought it a bit checking Net Isolation (which is on of course with my guest network) but not on the main WD0 and WD1 devices using DD-WRT (Kong Edition, R7000)

I went and did a factory restore which of course rebooted and finally that update took about 8 mins to complete. You know, the one that blew by the first time? Yeah, so after a few more updates once I configured Wireless I was able to connect to only my 2.4ghz band but not the 5ghz hidden/WPA2'ed band which is still odd.

Even so, to get some time using it I let it go on the 2.4ghz network (of which I have roughly 13 devices using QoS to remain somewhat 'usable' during peak hours my teenagers are using Xbox/PS5/Steam PC's as well the wife playing all kinds of mobile games; yadda yadda.

I'm impressed and it finally connected to my main desktop (spec's in profile) which even on balanced was amazing encoding on graphics, sound and input.

TL;DR: You may want to factory restore and see if it applies the patches again possibly correct this time because it's apparent mine did not on first power-up. Good Luck and if I find a reason for not being able to connect to my mainline 5ghz private band (I'm reckoning channel I'm using as a prime culprit) I'll report back in hopes those with 5ghz bands on DD-WRT get some ideas.

Cheers,

Just want to ask the obvious, though i'm sure many of you have already done this... Have you gone into your Steam settings on the Host PC and made sure "In-Home Streaming" is enabled? Whether streaming to a link or another PC i believe this option needs to be enabled.
You're a godsent!
I didn't know this was something that needed to be enabled, nor did they mention it in the quickguide.
I even logged a ticket and they sent me a link with advanced troubleshooting (like opening ports on my router) which did not resolve the issue.
Why couldn't they have mentioned this in the quickguide or in the interface?

(at least I got a reply from Steam support within a day :P )

I am having the exact same issue. In home streaming is enabled. I've tried wired and wireless on both ends. I have literally tried everything I can think of, and that's a lot of things. I played with the wireless settings, enabled streaming and sharing, hard-wired everything to the modem, to the router, etc. Someone put up on here to try connecting the PC to the SteamLink via ethernet -- but that is literally the most stupid thing I can think of. What would be the purpose of purchasing the Steam Link if it has to be hardwired to the computer and the TV simultaneously? If I would have known it does not work as advertised (and does not even connect as advertised) then I would have just given up. If my desktop was kept within hard-wiring range of my TV, then a second HDMI cable would make this device obsolete. But, alas, my desktop is not right next to my TV, so like a fool I trusted their specs on this device and wasted my money. I just happen to have a 100ft ethernet cable in my closet which I assumed might fix the problem, then allowing me to resume doing the wireless stream after they were actually connected, but even that didn't work at all. Literally, my Steam Link is yet to even find a single Host Computer, let alone connect to one. I will be trying to get a return started if I don't get some sort of response from customer support -- but I'm not holding my breath because they don't seem to be responding to anyone.

Just wanted to share my solution:

I use a Fritzbox 7490 as a router and I just couldn't find my host computer, regardless of what I did. Turns out, the Fritzbox (great piece of hardware by the way) has a feature that one of its LAN ports is designated "guest" port and allowed to access the internet but not the home network. This is a neat security feature for power plug networks but it was a pain to find and isolate as the error source. After 2 hours of trying I found this little option, disable it et voila the Steamlink can suddenly find my PC.
