Steam link vs air play
I use an late 2012 iMac for my steam gaming. I also have an apple tv hooked up to my tv. Are there advantages to Steam Link over just mirroring my desktop with airplay?

your AppleTV doesn't forward controller input to your mac...thats the biggest difference.
When your Mac is close enough for your wireless controllers and the quality is good enough you you wouldn't need to switch to Steam Link i guess. I don't know how godd AirPlay performs with games. Does it even output a 1080p image or does it do downsampling?

AirPlay has terrible input lag when going from, say an iPhone to an AppleTV. I've counted 1 second regularly, occasionally 2 seconds.

It's also limited to 15 fps, I believe, when pushing your whole desktop to the TV and not an individual "app".
