My guess is that the android system is somehow interfering, as when connecting the DS4 to my PC there's not even a mouse functionality by default. It seems to be an Android thing. I'm going to install the phone steam link app through side loading when I have time to see if it fixes it.
in steam settings, controller config, name the controller, android ds4 or something so you can identify it easily
then config the controller for games and bpm/desktop
(chord cant be used since android hijacks the home/xbox/ps buttons)
but you can us the phones touch display for mouse input, good for games that temp need t or to navigate game launchers
and make sure steam input is enabled for the games so steam can pass controls to them since they are not local controllers on the host
It doesn't work. I ended up using moonlight over NVIDIA Geforce and it works perfectly now. Steam Link is a buggy mess on Android TV, connecting more than 2 wired controllers was crashing the whole system too.
uses much more lan traffic and sending controls back to host
tvs do the bare minimum for their soc to run android
they still use 'fast' (100mb/s) lan port, not gigabit (1000mb/s)
fine for 1080p60, but not enough for 4k60
if you can, use an old laptop or build a htpc for remote play
