Steam Link

MX Master Bluetooth & Headset
I recently purchased the Steam Link and was hoping to use my wireless mouse with it. Now the MX Master has both a dongle and Bluetooth options and can be paired with up to 3 devices. So I was hoping to leave the dongle on my notebook and use it on Bluetooth with the Steam Link.
However I found the Steam Link doesn't find my mouse using Bluetooth, it works fine with the dongle though. It's not a problem with my mouse cause on Bluetooth I've had it hooked up to 2 apple computers and an android phone before...This makes me wonder if it's safe to look into getting a bluetooth keyboard for it at all, or should I just get something that also works on that logitech dongle?
Also, I DID manage to pair my bluetooth headset to this, however I can't find anything back in audio options when it comes to using this (mostly for the microphone).

That mouse uses Bluetooth Low Enery that the Link doesn't support.
The Link doesn't support any type of headset. Neither via USB or Bluetooth. Valve might add support in the future.

That seems odd, to have Bluetooth mouse support be so selective. I feel like this should've been mentioned somewhere. How will I know for future peripherals whether they'll be supported or not?

And yeah adding headset support seems like an obvious feature for a living room gaming device.

Bluetooth SIG made a mess with the 4.0 specs.
Classic Bluetooth devices are normally labelled just 4.0.
Low power devices like sensors, fitness bands and your mouse are labelled Bluetooth Low Energy or Bluetooth Smart.
Devices that can be masters to Bluetooth Low energy devices are called Bluetooth Smart Ready. These devices also talk Classic Bluetooth. Newer Smartphone/Tablets/SmartTVs and your USB dongle are examples of this.

Headset support is pending, but was not in the top of the priority queue. The last past months have been dedicated to better image quality, better support for wireless networks and surround sound.

Well this is a nice little twist. My Link JUST decided to update after trying to turn it off, and now it does find my mouse!
I guess that means it wasn't actually one of those low energy devices..

What version were you running before? The last public update was a couple of weeks ago? And version 449 was the last one that updated the wireless drivers.

Edit: Just checked the dissasembly reddit for the Steam Link and the wireless chipset supports Bluetooth Low Energy after all. Weird that they didn't labelled it as Bluetooth Smart Ready.

Well I'm not entirely sure, since I just opened up the box earlier today. I did try to update it before but there wasn't even an option for that yet in the main boot menu before it did this, and I think the update button on big picture only looked for steam itself.
Also connecting a usb-stick as I read somewhere didn't give any extra options at the time.

It should have updated the first time you joined the network. Maybe the update servers were down?

So it looks that the Steam Link is more capable than I thought. These are the specs of the wireless chip they are using:
-IEEE 802.11ac (draft) compliant, 2x2 MIMO spatial stream multiplexing with data rates up to MCS9 (866.7 Mbps)
-Bluetooth 4.2 + EDR/BDR/High-speed/Low Energy Dual Mode Controller
