Steam Link

Steam Link

Is it possible to use an Android phone as a Bluetooth KB/M with Steam Link?
I have a Steam Link and I love it. Playing games with a controller is wonderful. Sometimes, however, a mouse and keyboard would be great for getting through certain menus, or logging into servers and things. Here's my question.

Is it possible to use an android phone as a bluetooth keyboard with the Steam Link? I know that there are apps that allow you to use a touch device as a KB/M over wifi. Has anyone tried to do this and had success?

Thanks for the tips!

Great idea!
Use my phone with chrome remote desktop when the link or steam screws up. Being able to use it as keboard/mouse input for full screen situations would be great.

Yeah, my goal is to NOT have a keyboard sitting near my couch. I want to be like, "Oh I need to type something now?" *reaches in pocket for phone. *opens app. *types. *puts phone away until next time.

Not exactly what you want, but there are several Android and iOS apps that act as mouse/keyboards/remote controls for Windows hosts over WiFi. They require a client installed in the host PC. For example:
https://www.unifiedremote.com/remotes/keyboard
https://code.google.com/p/gmote/

well i can confirm a cheap £8 wireless keyboard and mouse work fine with the Steam Link.

funny thing is the cheap wireless mouse is a lot smoother than the wired £80 roccat mouse lol :/

I've seen some of those. I've actually used some of them in the past with mixed results. I'll have to see if there is anything that will work over bluetooth with the link.

It would be awesome if Valve made an app that would allow bluetooth pairing from your phone to the link.

Thanks for the suggestion!

They will not allow you to pair the phone with the Link directly, but you will be able to type in the gaming PC that you are streaming too. For many uses cases the results should be the same.

I use UnifiedRemote.com to control my PC Volume, Wake on Lan, type, etc and it works as advertised. Have not tested it with the link, but sure it will work just fine.

Will definitely have to try this one out. Website says that it works with set top boxes. I'll have to see if it will pair with the link. Thanks!
