Steam Link

Can you mirror the desktop with Steam Link?
I'm going to buy this at least for mirroring games. Will I also be able to mirror my general desktop so I could type documents, do work, go on the internet, etc.? If so, how does it work? If not, is there a way to at least browse the web from it?

Not only does the steam link have its own built in albeit crappy web browser, you can indeed turn off big picture mode and steam your entire PC. You can use wired or wireless keyboard and mouse or use a controller as a mouse with an onscreen keyboard.

Valve is also preparing to release an app sdk which will allow for specially tailored apps like YouTube and such right from BP mode.

Okay that's perfect to know. Thanks for the response!

Go to the top right corner, select the (on/off) symbol, a menu will appear. Select "Minimize Big Picture" and you'll see your desktop.

When I do this, I only see a quater of my desktop. What do I need to change... I am running steam link on HDMI 2 and my PC on HDMI3 (for testing only right now) When I am on HDMI3 I see my desktop fine, when I switch to HDMI2 and turn off Big Picture mode or minimize it, I only see like the top left quarter of my desktop and there is no way to scroll to the other quarters... Any settings I need to change?

Yes Youtube is good, but not any better than any "smart" tv is capable of.

From the Netherlands.

Make a bookmark for Youtube TV. This way it is like "real" app....

My PC is much faster than my Smart TV so YouTube is better for me on the Link. The only problem I have is settings on YouTube won't show if they are in a submenu.
