Steam Link

Steam Link

Non Steam games always load in background
I've got a few uplay games (man I wish I owned steam versions!) and the Steam shortcuts work on my desktop PC, but on the steam link the games load in the background. Is there any way, or any advanced options etc to bring the game to the foreground. Sometimes I can hear the game launching, and when I return to my pc I find it running.
Is there a shortcut to switching between apps on the link? (steam controller)

Not entirely kosher, but as an experiment I tried a 'uplay bypass' for AC Black Flag (i already owned the game, through uplay). Launching this way works, so it isn't a game issue, but something about loading uplay first causes the issue.

ALSO, games that have a 'borderless windowed' mode seem to work for me as well. It seems that the steam link is unable to see the full screen games with additional launchers, so I would see if your games have a borderless windowed mode setting.

I have the same issue. Can't seem to find a solution.

Did you try borderless windowed mode in the game settings? Most games these days have that, and I have found it fixes the problem. For games that don't have that option there's less we can do.

I updated Uplay and now it seems, UPlay games do load on the Steam Link, and, just a short test, but I do have control of them too! (Changed to borderless Windowed mode too)

When I excitedly wrote that, I'd actually only been as far as controlling the main menu, loading a game I actually had no control at all and just stood still while the enemy came and got me!
Not sure what changed since, but I've not even got control of the menus again.
So no, it's not fixed. Real shame, my favourite game right now is far cry 4 and I have to sit at my desk in my office of an even when I could be relaxing on a sofa.

Not sure of a solution to the "loading in background" issue, but as for having control of the games...

Have you tried closing UPlay completely before launching the game from an added Non-Steam Game Link? This seems to let controller inputs pass along correctly on Origin games like Star Wars Battlefront, and I wondered if it might help UPlay users out, too.

I just bought a second copy of Far Cry 4, as it was on offer, for another £12, THROUGH STEAM, hoping it would be the solution. Waited for STEAM to install it, just tried playing it, and it actually won't laucnh, but it seems from the activation key popup, that's it's about to launch via UPLAY anyway !? WTF? I've just bought a game through steam, and it wants to launch through Uplay?
Steam selling games that rely on other launchers? Steam selling games that steam link won't play?
