Poor and unresponsive mic with a Quest 3 and VRChat
I have a Quest 3 which I've been using with Steam Link to play VRChat. It works pretty well, but I'm having problems with the microphone.

I've checked all the levels in Windows settings. They are all at 100%. I also checked Voice under Steam settings and put the mic input volume/gain at 100%. I also turned off Voice Transmission Threshold and all the options under Advanced. I noticed that when I do a mic test in Windows settings for the Steam mic stream input (can't remember what it's called exactly), even making a loud noise doesn't go above 10%. However the gain in VRChat does actually seem to be reasonable.

It seems the mic quality is very poor. People say I sound robotic and can only understand about 80% of the words I'm saying.

I also notice that sometimes the mic doesn't respond at all. I might make a noise or say one word and the mic indicator in VRChat doesn't light up at all. Sometimes I'll say a whole sentence and I won't see the mic indicator light up until I'm one or two words in.

If I play VRChat in Quest standalone mode, the mic seems a lot more responsive, so I think it's Steam Link specific.

Any ideas on how to improve it?

Thanks.

I don't know that this will help, but can you see if adjusting the volume on the mic down, then back up in the dashboard helps?
