Steam Controller listed twice in Steam Link in Bluetooth Mode
I hope this doesn't break any kind of cross posting rules. I initially posted this in the steam controller section but I actually think it's an issue with the Steam Link as the Steam Controller pairs fine with my PC and Phone.

Initial post here with all the info
https://steamcommunity.com/app/353370/discussions/0/6679473667140923604/

The basic gist of it is my Steam Controller is listed twice on the controller section (once in the Bluetooth section) on the Steam Link, most inputs are duplicated and the right trackpad only works as a D-Pad not a mouse. But only in Bluetooth mode, in Wifi Mode it works perfectly.

It started happening when I installed Moonlight but even a factory reset of the controller and the Steam Link hasn't fixed it.

is it possible installing Moonlight has changed something on the Steam Link with Bluetooth that not even a factory reset could change back? I'm guessing that's probably impossible but I'm completely stumped on the issue.

the controller can have different bt id's to connect to multiple devices
unpair one using the links menu

I've been troubleshooting this for a few weeks. if you are referring to the Bluetooth section on the Steam Link when you say "links menu". There is only one device listed there.

While playing around pairing to my Phone and PC I have seen multiple steam controllers listed in that section but only one is ever listed as connected. In any case, I've tried removing them all and I've tried resetting Bluetooth (Y button) in that page a number of times.

Just to be clear, this is an issue on the Steam Link UI before I launch anything else.

There is a lot more info in the post I linked.

You can unpair one or the other within the BT settings tab within the Link menu.

does it show both as paired or connected?
try resetting the links bt pairings, let it reboot, and pair it again

It's only listed once in the bluetooth section. It's listed twice in the controller section and you can't remove individual controllers from there. But if you read the other post I linked, you will see how each listed controller behaves differently in the testing mode.

I've tried literally everything I can think of. Reset everything multiple times including full factory reset on the steamlink and the controller. At this point I think the only way I can troubleshoot it further is to buy a second steam controller and see how that behaves and I'm not prepared to do that. I've just been running it in Wi-Fi mode which works fine.

I clearly have a very unique issue, I was just hoping someone else might have come across it. It's definitely a strange one.

you can unpair and disconnect individual controllers
the list includes devices that can be paired, look what it says after, and what actions are available for it

worst case, do the bt reset to remove all pairings

You can't do that from the controller section, all you can do in there is test the controller/s.

You can unpair from the bluetooth section but it's only listed once there and I have already tried that, including resetting bluetooth as well as doing full factory resets on both the steam link and the controller. Well you can't exactly factory reset the controller but I set it back to the default firmware and then updated it again.

Thanks for the suggestions but at this point I really don't think there is any solution I can do that will fix it.

I am having this issue as well. Steam controller listed once in Bluetooth, twice in controllers. Updated firmware reset the connection no luck.

Now we are two.

I never found a solution for this issue. The recent firmware updates for the steam link didn't fix it.

When you test the 2 controllers listed in the controller section do they behave differently? Eg) on mine the left trackpad didn't work on one and the right trackpad didn't work on the other.
