Steam Link
Diablo 3 via Steam Link
Hey guys,

I used the search function in the right upper corner, but couldn't find anything specific on this. I'm trying to play Diablo 3 via Steam Link on my Tv and tried some options but to no avail:

Tried adding the -launch to the shortcut and it didnt work. I do however get a black screen instead of a white one then, but it's still only audio and no video whatsoever.

When Googling, I did find some old pages on this from when people said it was still working with the -launch trick, but it seems that nowadays this doesn't seem to work anymore.

Is there anyone playing Blizzard games through Steam Link as of today? My system is two floors up and I would really like to play downstairs since I got a 60" down here...

I'm playing it and i believe i merely added the exe with the -launch parameter over the library shortcut. It looks like it's bypassing the bnet client and hopping directly to the in-game login screen. Downside is you have to type down the password each and every time you start the game.

But beware, i'm playing with a thornsader and it works well but i cannot imagine playing any other build where you need to move somewhere and target somewhere else (which is like %90 of all builds). It can be quite painful. Good luck.

I've got it working too. I think I just added the exe to a steam shprtcut, which then opens the launcher. I click 'play' from the battle net launcher and the game loads fine.

As Stdzx says, the controls are a bit meeh. Which is annoying as this is one of the few games that actually runs well through the steam link for me.
I connected a USB mouse and keyboard already so controls are not a problem I guess :)

I do get sound though... I have the audio from the game at least, and the cursor changes to the D3 cursor but the screen stays either white or black...

I just don't know what I can do from here...
Try running it in windowed mode with -w parameter. And also try starting the game from host and resuming from client.
With that tip I got one step further! :D I have audio and visuals now, but I have no input from neither keyboard nor mouse :/ is this a well known problem? :((
I've used steam controller to input my password, given the username is always remembered. Yet i'm having some regional character input issues so i usually type in the password over the PC keyboard or through teamviewer on my phone.

Yet your issue is something else, i have no idea why the game wouldn't register your k/m input from steam link. Might be because it already have connected k/m on your host so it may be failing to overwrite that. But that's somehow unlikely because my steam controller also sends k/m input. You should look into the issues regarding k/m with steam link/in home streaming overall, your problem shouldn't be diablo3 specific. I hope i could assist further.

Best of luck.
The thing is: when you go to Task Manager or try installing something, Steam Link will take no more input: it just doesnt allow you to do that through steam... it's like that with every install and almost all settings you want to change.

This is exactly like that: its like the game is doing something in the background for Steam Link to think that something is being changed/something is installing...

Steam streaming cannot reach out all other exe s running around. For example you can control a video player to watch movie but it ll freeze when you go over spotify or task manager. Try this; if you have an option over the game as configure controller over big picture mode, set it to a k/m layout. But i might be seeing it because of te recognized steam controller but check it out anyway that is the only thing i could think of.
So in other words, I should forget about the keyboard/mouse all along and try to set things up/play with the Steam Controller? Well, I can sure try it of course, thought it might be far from ideal... I wil let you know how it turns out.
No i totally dont mean that. If SC works, k/m must too. You might also have a driver issue. Or something else. You need to troubleshoot deeply imo.
Sorry for misuderstanding. The Steam Controller also doesn't do anything when Diablo 3 started... It really is like when you try to install something for example. Even if that's the only .exe you're running, it just won't let you. I stop Diablo 3 and everything else in my Steam library works perfectly fine...

it must have something to do with what Diablo 3 or Battle.net is doing in the background... but even if I start Diablo 3 without Battle.net it still doesn't take input... weird.

Of course, I'm not giving up on this, so I will post something if it works or so xD
