We're looking into audio issues, but as a first troubleshooting step you'll want to make sure:
1. You've got "Steam Streaming Speakers" set as your output device in windows.
2. "Steam Streaming Speakers" is allowed as a sound device. Go to sound settings > All sound devices > Steam Streaming Speakers > Click "Allow".
Let me know if this works for you.
I can't even find the "all sound devices" tag? I've been told this before, but I can't find that setting at all
Hey there, experiencing this issue too. I double checked and it seems Steam Streaming Speakers and Steam Streaming Microphone are both already set to allow. Any other troubleshooting suggestions in the meantime?
Steam Streaming Speakers are active and functional on Windows 11, delivering audio successfully when streaming to my phone via SteamLink. However, when utilizing SteamLink on my Quest 2, I encounter an issue where I am unable to hear anything. Despite maximizing the Quest 2's volume, even verifying within SteamLink itself, no audio is audible.
During my use of SteamLink, I navigated to the audio settings, opting for manual selection and choosing my regular PC speakers. Surprisingly, the audio was clear as I moved through the UI (but coming from my PC obviously). However, upon switching to the Steam Streaming Speakers, no sound was produced. This issue persists despite these troubleshooting attempts.
Steps are:
1.Remove Steam Streaming Microphone and Steam Streaming Speakers from WIndows Device Manager (you can find it in windows Control Panel), preferably with the drivers.
2.Reinstall Steam Streaming Speakers driver:
- Go to https://github.com/FCGWolfe/SteamLinkAudioDrivers
- Download ZIP archive of this Git
(Code > Download ZIP)
- Unpack, follow your system's folder (for me it was Win10 x64)
- Find both .inf files, right click > install
3. You might need a reboot, for me it worked after just restarting Steam and SteamVR. If in doubt do the full system reboot
I was tinkering this back and forth for a good minute, hope this helps
Thanks for the suggestion, this had some interesting results, maybe this info can help @danwillm
Upon doing this, audio works. However, once I do any audio changes, IE changing audio source in windows, playing around with audio levels in windows, swapping from headset to manual and back to headset audio within the Quest via steam link, it breaks again and will not be fixed until until driver uninstall/reinstall.
Looks like Steam Link is broken, based on the number of reports I'm seeing of no sound!
