audio lag / delay after a while
Hi,

I'm experiencing some audio lag (0.1-0.5seconds) that randomly occurs after a while of playing some games, e. g. The Witcher Wild Hunt and The Day of the Tentacle Remastered.
It's not like others describe it as a permanent problem. if I restart steam link, steam or the pc it usually changes back to normal but returns over time (often several hours).
I'm running steam link over a 100mbit network cable LAN connection in highest quality settings / bit rate on a i7 cpu with a gtx 980ti, hdmi to Denon AVR X4000 receiver (5.1 speaker set) and BenQ 1080p projector.
the picture and input lag is always great. Only the sound gets messed up and I believe to have this only since the last 2-3 firmware versions, or I didn't notice it before. I have a steam link since the 5th of January and keep it auto updated, as my windows 10 and drivers.

Switching from dolby 5.1 to stereo in the steam link audio settings seems to work - ive had the same issue today, found this in another thread - there are quite a few threads about audio lag.
Im still testing but it seems ok now - today i had audiolag like after 5 mins and now ive been playing witcher 2 for 2 hours without problems so far.

I'll report if the lag appears again

Any update on this issue? I just bought a 5.1 system for my TV and discovered this gradual increase in audio delay over time. Does not happen when set to stereo. Was hoping to experience some awesome surround sound gaming.

almost forgot that I had the issue. I don't have it anymore and i'm having 5.1 sound but I can't remember what fixed it. I assume u did all firmware updates.

Yeah I did all the firmware updates. I haven't tried switching to the beta builds yet.

this is strange. I cannot say for sure that the problem is fixed for me since I am not using the steam link very often anymore but I am pretty sure I would have noticed. It happened mainly with "the witcher 3" - maybe the game is making a difference?? I doubt it though.

I've experienced it with both Lego Jurassic World and Lego Marvel Super Heroes. I'll give other games a try and see. I can try Witcher 3, but I have it on GOG and not on Steam.

same for me, I got Witcher from GOG, and also both those Lego Games

Kids were playing Lego Marvel Super Heroes today and there was a definite audio delay but it looks like it's the game itself. Once we quit the game, the Big Picture mode sounds were in sync. Will have to investigate further because I know I've seen the audio delay even in Big Picture mode before.

Haven't had a chance to test with Witcher 3 yet. Been taking advantage of summertime outdoors.

could also be that the game surround mode is treated differently than the background sounds in the steam link. still i would be surprised if they weren't any other people having the problem.

Update:
Looks like audio delay happens consistently in Lego Marvel Super Heroes but the delay does not gradually increase. Might just be 5.1 audio takes a half second more time to stream for this game.

Will eventually try Witcher 3.
