Can the Steamlink be used to remotely turn on my PC ?

I am thinking of buying a Steamlink for my PC but one thing I am wondering will the steamlink enable me to remotely turn on my PC ? as I would not want to leave my PC on at all times , If not , is there any solutions to my needs ?

Yes. One of the link's features is wake-on-lan.

Which requires no setup on the Link's end, but you do need to make sure that your PC is setup for Wake-on-LAN. I use this feature with my wired network and it's great.

Remember to enable it in your BIOS too (in addition to your network adapter driver settings), else it will only wake your PC from sleep, not shutdown.

Not sure this works if using an USB WiFi Dongle, Both the USB dongles i have tested Dont allow Wake On Lan,

One is an USB 3.0 TP-link model: Archer T4U AC1200 the other is an USB 2.0 TP-Link Model : TL-WN821N 300Mbps, Both are not capable of WOL.

Although i think WOL works with PCIe based wifi Cards.

can you wake your computer from another networks? mine work fine on same network, but from different network my pc always offline and cant wake up from sleep when i try from my steam link app

there are apps to send magic packet to turn on pc if wol is enabled

i have only tried link wol on lan, not internet side

any mobile app will do the same thing, to be cautious dont give it access to your phones location/storage/cam/mic etc..
