Steam Link

Steam Link

New Big Picture Mode sucks for desktop and steam link
I can see how it is formatted nicely for something steam deck sized but why should i have to use that? Please is there a way to stay on the old big picture?
the new control editor is also abysmal to work with on desktop and I don't see why the better one has to be scrapped to put us all on the format for small screens and controllers exclusively.

I don't hate the new BPM but aspects of it are definitely not as smooth as the old one - I hope they'll manage to really consider the Link again soon.

I've solved some of the design problems by turning the text scaling to the maximum for now.

The main irritation is that it won't turn off the Link from the power menu any more!

Old BPM used to be better

I also have problems since the update. Before the image was really smooth and good looking. Right now the image is stuttering a lot. Like the frames are very low even when you just watching a clip.I hope this get's fixed.

use desktop mode
link menu -> settings -> streaming -> advanced

It was heavily beta tested, so we can’t deny that. My UX was poor initially but I’m now adapting and finding it to be mostly OK.

For turning off link, I now “stop streaming”, then additional shutdown step on link itself.

I can no longer use steam link on my phone. Whatever new UI it's launching into is completely unusable.

it's not a bad update, it just seems like they have forgotten to fold the Steam Link-specific features back in...

And more to that point, honestly, I like the new updates it needed a refresh, but I've been beta testing it for a few months, and I'm glad to be testing it.

However, I don't think they should have pushed it to the release channel yet it still has numerous issues especially for anyone with niche or older gear now. As far as Steam Input goes for example, I know there's a few settings and stuff missing for things like Playstation controllers for example. But hopefully they will get this sorted out, they really have been squashing a LOT of bugs, and actually replying to people about some reports to get some fixed which is really good.

Steam link needs to get back on Samsung too. STAT.

I don’t care who does the work (Samsung, I think). Dropping the app from their newest TVs is a huge mistake.

Wow didn't know they dropped it, that is a mistake

I have it on, and can presumably download it on again, my older 2019/2020 TVs. On my 2022 QN90B the Steam Link App is not available.

BTW, my attempt to use Steam Link (hardware) to stream from my PC to a TV tonight was a total fail. Could not get focus within games. They failed to recognize my controller, which worked fine in BMP interface.

Looks like I’ll be using Xbox app for a while. :-(

can you get your controllers to work launching from desktop mode though? I couldn't but it has been a while since i tried. I'm talking about the steam link hardware not streaming to a device
