Steam Link
Steam Link Beta with VirtuaHere, Kodi and Pulse-Eight USB CEC Adapter
I saw a topic a long time ago where people were talking about using the Steam Link to start Kodi and how cool it would be if their Pulse-Eight USB CEC Adapter would work. This would allow you to use your TV's remote (the TV must support CEC though) to navigate Kodi.

I read about the USB sharing in beta and tried to connect the Pulse-Eight USB CEC Adapter between my TV and Steam Link, since it uses USB to send the remote input. Using VirtuaHere on my PC it worked immediately and now I can start Kodi in my Steam Link and use my TV remote to navigate.

If the Steam itself would also be able to use the remote input, just like Kodi to navigate, it would be perfect.

How do you make Virtualhere work with steam link? My Logitech Dualaction controller doesn't register on the steam link and Im waiting for VirtualHere to realease it to steam link. How do you use it already?
You need to start streaming (start the connection with the PC) before VirtualHere will see the USB devices. Plus you need to set the Steam Link to beta release in the System settings.

When running VirtualHere I also needed to double click "USB Hubs" in that window for it to install some more drivers. Then it recognized the Steam Link and the USB devices were listed below that. In the free version you need to right click and select to use a device.

the steam link has HDMI CEC support on his own, right? Why do you need the adapter?
Is it somehow possible to start automaticly when PC is powered on?

Edit: i never have even thought my Sony android TV has HDMI cec so this solves my wireless xbone controller problem!

I don't think so, at least it didn't work for me. Where did you read that?

I put a shortcut in my C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder to do that. And you can configure the app to automatically link devices.

The Link's built-in CEC support is only to switch the TV to its input once turned on. AFAIK, it doesn't respond to remote control inputs.

A nifty idea, though, especially with the promise of native apps in the future.

It's actually called Auto use devices. Right click "USB Hubs" in the VirtulHere window and select "Auto-Use All Devices". I don't know what it will do in the free version when you connect multiple usb decives, since it supports only one.
