Ps4 controller not working in streaming no matter what I do

I have my ps4 controller connected wirelessly to my steam link, although when I begin streaming I cannot do anything in big picture mode with the controller

Things to add: I’ve already made sure the input streaming was enabled, I’ve tried factory resetting the link, and I’ve tried power cycling the link 3 times, I’m out of ideas

check steam controller settings on the host
steam -> settings -> controller

Àlso enable desktop so you can access steam client in large mode on desktop. Big Picture is riddled with long standing Steam Input bugs which meàns we need to launch games from steam client in large mode.and use large mode for controllers to work like expected.

Before launching gàme from large mode in big picture controller settings make sure your controller is registered to your steam account. Using guest account for controllers is problematic, especially so from big picture.


Those tips should help you out. steam Input is awesome, when it works like expecetd . we need to configure all our controllers and all our games for Steam Input .

Steam Input is really querky.

My Thrustmaster steering wheel has gàmepad dpad and controller buttons with a PS button . Steam Input detects controller as generic gamepad and I had to manually save a button layout in big pictures controller settings before I could use those controls in big picture. Dpad has stopped working in big picture recently,but works fine in games but only after I saved a layout in controller settings in big picture.


Does your controller get listed as device in big picture controller settings?
Is your controller registered to your steam account? Do not use guest account for controllers.

use a k/m on the link
link menu -> settings -> bt
hold share + ps on the ds4 til it flashes white
on the link, add the wireless controller

link menu -> settings -> controller -> test
verify all buttons/joys/triggers work (circle x2 to exit test)
connect to host pc
steam -> settings -> controller -> [general]
make sure the ds4 shows up on the list, select and properties to change led color and vib pref ect..
steam -> settings -> controller -> [bpm/desktop/chord] -> select each controller
configure them as needed
library -> select game -> controller config
config as default xbox controls

Alright I will try that today and see if it works. Everything you mentioned is what I did before but I will also try to close big picture and use standard steam mode.

I cant do this because he is connecting his ps4 controller to his phone LG Harmony 2

Ok so the ps4 controller shows up. What does that last sentenced mean?

He cant move with the PS4 controller so he cant enter the configs. I can move with the stram controller and the default configs are fine.

library -> select game -> controller config
config as default xbox controls

Its definitely default condigs.

pairing to phone is similar
go to the phones bt menu, hold ps + share, to pair the controller

I already posted there I can confirm it still doesn’t connect. I literally did everything you mentioned.
