[PSA] New model 1914 XBOX controller not working with steam link
The most recent model XBOX controller with the share button in the middle doesn't appear to be compatible (yet) with the steam link. I fought with it for a few hours today but no go via bluetooth pairing. Sometimes it shows as connected but the controller LED continues to blink instead of going solid like it should. PS4 and 8Bitdo controller work flawlessly with my steam link. Also updated the firmware of the controller via the XBOX accessories app for windows 10. Tried the beta build os for the steam link, all to no avail. Anyone else see this?

SteamLink's OS is Linux based. Linux has issues with Bluetooth Low Energy. Since the most recent XBox Controller uses BLE it wont connect via BT to the SteamLink till it will work on Linux and the SteamLink get's the update.
I have the same issue as you and for that period I use a long USB-C cable.

Yep, I found another guy on reddit that also can't pair his new 1914 to his steam link. That all but settles it. I guess we just wait it out now.

Would it work to plug in the xbox wireless adapter through usb, and connect the controllers through that instead of bluetooth?

I'm sure that would work but I didn't buy the adapter because I assumed bluetooth would be fine since controller and steam link have bluetooth.

Just confirmed the controller will work if you plug in the wireless adapter. I plugged it into the back of the Steam Link, pushed the pairing button on the adapter and it paired with the controller. The share button doesn't do anything but the rest work fine.

This is the adapter that I have

Not a surprise it works with the official dongle. I'm really hoping for it to work with bluetooth soon.

That's great, I guess we have the problem mitigated, hopefully they add support for Bluetooth, I know IOS devices are also still waiting.

For anyone looking to buy one: the official receiver (24.99 USD), but it is out of stock at the time of writing this.

Good option if you care about minimizing latency as the proprietary dongle will be better than bluetooth. The casual gamer I am, bluetooth will suffice and I'll wait for a fix.
