EasySMX ESM 9101 detected wrong

The EasySMX ESM 9101 used to be detected as a Xbox 360 controller. Now it is detected as a Nintendo switch controller.
Next to that it currently also engages the rumble motors continuously.

I have not used my controller for like 6 months or so now, so I guess it has to do with the update on steam, as it worked perfectly before.

Hi everyone,
any news about this issue?
Most of the times it is still recognized as Nintendo switch controller and only a few times ad xbox 360 controller, as it is on the PC and as it should be.
Even if the buttons can be remapped on Steam Link a major side effect is that the vibration does not work in this case (e.g. The Medium) and you lose a lot of the game experience.

This problem is now happening for me as well (ESM-9101). If I go into big picture mode and tap any button it rumbles contiuously and the mapping is borked -.-
Also doesn't work anymore in Temtem (game)
Guess I'm back to mouse and keyboard for now

Why tf can't I tell steam manually what to recogize it as. Would be an adequate solution for now. Instead valve is trying to get Nintendo switch controller to work properly and borks other controllers...

If anyone else is having this issue, I believe I've found a solution, which I've also posted on EasySMX's forum.

Open up Windows' Device Manager and under "Human Interface Devices," find "HID-compliant game controller." Right click "HID-compliant game controller" and uninstall it. Next, unplug the controller's dongle and plug it back in. Steam now recognizes the controller as an Xbox one.

I'm so glad it worked for you. I have discovered that the driver, for some odd reason, keeps reverting. Each time I use the controller (so far, every two or three days), the problem recurs and I have to uninstall again. I followed some instructions I found online to prevent the driver updating via the group policy editor, but it hasn't solved the issue. Maybe someone else can come along and suggest a permanent solution. For now, I'm at least happy the the controller is usable, even if it's a hassle to go through this process each time.

Might be a necro but I tried uninstalling the "HID-compliant game controller" driver and it's still bjorked

 echo  'install hid_nintendo /bin/true' | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

or/and

 echo 'blacklist hid_nintendo' | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/no-nintendo.conf

and reboot

Don't work for me...
6 month ago the controller work fine and i don't use it since (because i stop playing game with controller like eldenring etc..) i play normal with mouse and kayboard on other game and 4 days ago i want to use controller to play on an indie game, but it don't work and i never find a solution :(

the site easySMX don't exist anymore.
I do nothing with my PC configuration.

Why it worked and now not ?!?

I got it fixed by going to device manager: Human interface Devices and deleting both “compliant game controller” and the other one that says “compliant controller”you won’t miss it, it is next to it. Do not unplug it. it will download it again. It worked 2023.

Make sure your controller setting as well is in default setting for your game.
