Steam Link

Steam Link, PC connected to same network but unable to find each other
I'm trying to set up my Steam Link to connect to my PC, but have been unable to get my computer in the list of found computers. I've been googling for hours, but no fix I've found has worked, so I figured I'd check here and see if someone comes up with something before I give up and go to Steam support.

What I'm trying to do:
Connect Steam link to my PC via my building's ethernet network.

Where I'm at:
Both PC and link are connected to the internet. Steam link was able to download latest updates. However, when searching for computers on the network, several appear, but none are my computer. This same list of computers appears when I go to the In-Home Streaming page of Steam settings on my PC, indicating they clearly are on the same network, but the link is not finding my PC.

Things I've already checked or tried:
- Restarting each device multiple times.
- Set network connection to "Private" on Windows to make my PC discoverable.
- Running Steam in Big Picture Mode when attempting to connect
- Updated to beta build for Steam Link.
- Factory reset of Steam Link.
- Unchecked and rechecked "Enable in-home streaming" in Steam settings.
- Above, but with a restart of Steam between each setting change.
- Confirmed IP addresses appear to be on same subnet (maching first 3 numbers in IPv4).
- Direct search of my PC's IP address from Steam Link.
- Attempted direct IP ping from PC to Link address, got "Destination host unreachable" message.
- Turn off Windows Firewall.

Anyone know of any other fixes or things I could test? I doubt it's a router problem, as the link is able to reach other computers on the network (and even if it was, the router is managed by my building, which doesn't help me). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. Can you check that you have windows 10 updated? Apparently for someone that fixed the problem

I do have windows updated, still no change, unfortunately.

are you using a switch to connect the devices or ethernet wall outlets mamaged by the landlord? if you are not able to control the building's router functions, using a switch to create your own subnet may be your only viable option.

Ethernet wall outlets. I did eventually break down and buy my own network switch, just to see if that would help. Turns out, it actually did solve the problem. Why, I don't know, considering both the link and PC could already reach the same pool of other devices on the subnet. Router issues are weird.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
