Controller not connecting to Snes9x? (1.56.2)
A few months ago I bought a new gaming laptop
Dell G3 15' 8Gb
Intel Core i5-8300H @ 2.30GHz

One of the first things I did was get Snes9x (a SNES emu) to play a lot of classic games, right now I started with LOZ:ALTTP

Apparently the emulator is supposed to have controller support, and I have both a PS3 Controller w/ ScpToolkit and a Xbox One controller.

For some reason, the emulator can't pick up my controller and I have no idea why.
I've searched all over and apparently it's supposed to be sort of plug-and-play.
I've seen people try to run it through steam and changing config settings but nothing seems to work.

I've enabled Joypad 1, I've played other games with the controllers, I've set the hotkeys to the correct key, and I've turned on "Use SNES Joypad(s)".

I just can't seem to get it to work.

add snes9x as a non steam game
begin streaming
steam -> library -> right click on snex9x -> steam controller
make sure controllers are set to default mappings (and multiple controllers can have different mappings)
and make sure steam overlay is enabled
then check if it works

or do the same with retroarch, works much better than snes9x
