Steam Link

analog stick sensitivity
hi,

i've noticed in some games that require somewhat precise analog stick movement, that there seems to be some kind of analog stick sensitivity multiplier.
in essence, it feels like the sticks hit their peak value at roughly 70% and don't go beyond that. this results in transitions between an axis direction and a diagonal adjacent to that axis, e.g. left to top-left-diagonal having no values in between while at max value.

this leads me to the conclusion, that steam link uses a multiplier of 1,414 (square root of 2) at the very least for generic controllers.

i can quite certainly say that it's not the controller, as it does not have this multiplier when directly connected to my computer. also, it's not the steam link device, as it also happens with the android app via smartphone.
to verify, i've tried with a different controller model and a second copy of the same one.

is there a way/patch to somehow remove this analog stick multiplier? as long as it is there i can't use steam link properly. i have to directly connect the controllers to my pc.

thanks in advance

you will need to set it for each game, chord, desktop, bpm (with each controller)

begin streaming
adjust deadzone, makes joy active area larger, you can also change the rate/curve for more sensitive center area

also check joy.cpl to make sure the controller is responding correctly

you can adjust it in the host pc steam -> controller and library -> game -> controller settings

if i understood you correctly, it didn't work for me. the sensitivity setting only seemed to cut-off the movement a lot earlier.

increases the sticks outer deadzones?

tried all of that. it reduced the issue, but didn't alleviate it entirely.

funny...while having the controller going through steamlink, it's not listed there at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i'm terribly sorry for wasting your time. just tried again to use the controller directly with the pc in one of those games and realized that this is an inherent behaviour of the controller itself.
