Steam Link app for LG WebOS TVs
As an owner of a glorious 55" OLED B7 TV by LG (with WebOS) I would highly appreciate an official response about the possible future release of a Steam Link application for LG Content Store / LG WebOS Smart TVs.
Sony/Samsung owners are currently able to stream games from PC directly, but there's no such option for LG owners, we can only purchase a physical device.
I'd like to know if we should just stay calm and wait for a while or abandon all hope and buy a Steam Link device as an only option.
Thanks in advance!

Hope I'm not too late to the party. I'm the developer of IHSplay, which is a third party app for Steam Link. It's in early beta stage now: https://repo.webosbrew.org/apps/org.mariotaku.ihsplay

Signed it. Just looked for the app on my C9 . I just presumed it would already be available like it is on Samsung.

I believe the version for Samsung TVs was technology licensed from Valve,
Valve has always said that anybody who wants is free to implement the steam link client side on their TV.

...

Did you read that on a blog or something? Would you mind pointing me to the source?

I read the WebOS developer guide and it doesn't seem too complicated to build apps. I've also noticed that the steamlink package (for raspberry pi) depends only on python and other simple libs, so I'm guessing it shouldn't be too hard to port.

I've contacted LG as well. We can only hope.

This should already be on the TV. Why is it not on the TV?! Signed and contacted them. Really should support steam link natively.

Edit: Really Valve should have already done this and submitted the app yonks ago. Valve is to blame for this. They need to get off their asses and make it. They earn to much money to half ass their support.

We are soon in 2020 and this beautiful concept is not yet to be seen on the LG platform?

I've had excellent results running Steam Link sideloaded onto a first generation Amazon Fire Cube. Both my PC and Fire Cube are connected directly to my router via ethernet cables, so the connection is a solid 100 Mbps between the two. I also installed it on my second Fire Cube which connects over the 5Ghz wireless, and that experience was pretty stable, as well, with nearly the same connection speed. I just finished Jedi Fallen Order with very little hiccups using a combination of the two. There's no native HDR support using that method, but the game still looks fantastic on the LG OLED.
