Steam Link app for LG WebOS TVs
As an owner of a glorious 55" OLED B7 TV by LG (with WebOS) I would highly appreciate an official response about the possible future release of a Steam Link application for LG Content Store / LG WebOS Smart TVs.
Sony/Samsung owners are currently able to stream games from PC directly, but there's no such option for LG owners, we can only purchase a physical device.
I'd like to know if we should just stay calm and wait for a while or abandon all hope and buy a Steam Link device as an only option.
Thanks in advance!

I think they are intentionally no supporting stem link to try and push people to buying the nvida remote gaming service.
Who? LG or Valve? What could they gain from that? Besides, most tvs have android and can use Steam Link, so...

This GitHub issue, which is likely for that problem, is still open. You can track progress/info there. https://github.com/mariotaku/ihsplay/issues/48

U dont need steam link on LG TV just use remote desktop option on it and turn it on in windows and then u can connect TV as a third monitor.
Works, yes, but not smoothly and very laggy

I have the same problem with my LG Oled.
So, having a Samsung phone with DEX, I use on my TV the DEX sharing of the phone,
I installed SteamLink and it works very well. (it is more restrictive on the other hand because you have to have your phone in DEX mode nearby, but at least it is functional).

Can't recommend Sunshine / Moonlight enough. Works great on my LG TV with wired or Bluetooth controllers.

I posted a short demo of it running on my old LG tv a while back.

I tested Moonligh+Sunshine combo for my LG, and it doesn’t look nowhere near as smooth as a SteamLink which is installed on my AppleTV box connected to the same TV.
However, as the AppleTV box is limited to only 60Hz, but the TV can go to 144Hz, I’m getting quite a noticeable delay on the inputs there in comparison to what a natively installed Moonlight on the WebOS feels like, but then Moonlight doesn’t really like the FPS difference between the host and the client, and as a result, you are getting quite a lot of micro stuttering, which is something SteamLink does not have a problem with.
So the situation is as follows:
Moonlight is super responsive but it has major stuttering.
SteamLink is super smooth but it has a major input delays.
Currently, there is no good middle, or no best of both worlds for WebOS.

For the first time became interested in the Link and it turned out that my TV is not supported. Well, okay, let's hope for a bright future for LG :No1:

just use something else
99% of tvs do not have fast enough network support for 4k streaming
link hardware is limited to 1080p and needs 30-40mb/s to do that

a pi or htpc or old laptop can do much better on a wired network than any tv app (including android)
