Steam Link app for LG WebOS TVs
As an owner of a glorious 55" OLED B7 TV by LG (with WebOS) I would highly appreciate an official response about the possible future release of a Steam Link application for LG Content Store / LG WebOS Smart TVs.
Sony/Samsung owners are currently able to stream games from PC directly, but there's no such option for LG owners, we can only purchase a physical device.
I'd like to know if we should just stay calm and wait for a while or abandon all hope and buy a Steam Link device as an only option.
Thanks in advance!

I _think_ the only official-from-Valve app support is for Android (and maybe someday Apple); I believe the version for Samsung TVs was technology licensed from Valve, but the app was written by Samsung themselves. So I suspect the only way it'll end up on WebOS is if LG licenses it from Valve and writes a WebOS version themselves, unfortunately.

So while it's no official response, my gut feeling is that if you want Steam streaming to TV I'd look into either the dedicated Steam Link hardware, or picking up an Nvidia Shield TV (a set-top box which will let you run any other Android TV apps as well) and running the Android app.

I believe the version for Samsung TVs was technology licensed from Valve,
Valve has always said that anybody who wants is free to implement the steam link client side on their TV.
I assume the license is a mere formality, as Valve wants in home streaming to work.
Personally I have a steam link on my Samsung TV :-).
Samsung has very good screens, but the software usually makes me feel very uncomfortable (as a software engineer). So that's what they are to me: a beautiful monitor.
Anyway, WebOS and Tizen are alike, as they are more real linux systems than Android will ever be. So it wouldn't cost that much work for LG.

Since more and more people are buying LG OLED TVs like the B8 and C8, plus all other normal LCD TVs, it would be really beneficial to have a Steam link inbuilt app - hardware Steam link is not available in all countries, but LG TVs are.

And from LG mid-range and up, you get the Magic Remote that is practically a Nintendo Wii nunchuk based controller or airmouse. Wouldn't it be great to play some games that way? :-)

Now with the end of Steam Link hardware production this is more needed than ever. LG with the magic remote and Steam would be a blast.

I'm surprised this hasn't been made already. Email LG, and mention that Samsung TVs ahve Steamlink support, so why be second best?

Exactly.... Ask LG to implement it, or at least let them talk with Valve about it. Samsung has a TV version and a Galaxy Apps version...

Same thing for me , I almost regret buying a LG TV over a Samsung one just for that. I don't want to add more wires or external devices.

You can copy paste the message I adapted from @RendCycle, and send it to LG. Change the LG TV model number

"Just bought a _____ from _____. I would like to request LG to provide software to support the "Steam Link: software for its WebOS. Samsung TVs and their Galaxy App already has a "Steam Link" Software that can be freely installed in their devices. It allows the user to connect their TV/Galaxy as client devices to stream their PC screen through the Steam Server software installed on the PC so they can play PC games / use any software found on Steam. This brings more value for Samsung TVs and Galaxy devices and provides a considerable competitive advantage.
Hoping this will be considered.
Thank you"

If even Apple can get it, the LG should have been able to get this a long, long time ago. Guess I'll send a mail to LG as per VAS_PHAETHON's suggestion as well.
