Steam Link

Steam Link

Can I use steam link to stream just the Video to TV and play on PC?
My wife likes to watch me play games that have storylines that interest her (she LOVES Assassin's Creed for example) but action games are not her thing, so she likes to watch me play them. I used to just run a long hdmi to the TV and mirror my monitor to the TV and play the game.

Since some remodeling, the TV is no longer in a location where we can easily run an hdmi to the TV. I have been looking for a wireless solution where I can play games at my PC desk on my monitor and mirror my monitor wirelessly to the TV. My video card does not support the microsoft windows 10 native solution (forget what it is called), and I hear chromecast is not good at things that update rapidly.

Can I do this with steamlink? Our pcs are not wired directly to the router (for the same reason I can't easily run hdmi to the tv) but it would be easy to connect the steam link hardware to the router. I don't mind lag at all since I would be playing the game using my PC monitor, the tv would just be there so my wife could watch it.

yes

but audio may be an issue
in the lnk menu you can disable audio/control to stream only video

or use vac or something similar to clone audio on the host pc to the streaming speakers and pc speakers

as for lag, when wired the link is only 1-2 frames behind the host pc
wireless lag depends on wifi signal strength

Thanks for the info, it would be wireless from PC to router, if I could run wires to the tv I would just run hdmi and use the tv as a second monitor.
