I've noticed that if I am playing with my monitor off and I get an infinite load, if I turn the monitor on the game completes the load and vice versa if the monitor is on I have to switch it off and then back on again.
It's frustrating.
I have a great spec so I know there are no perfomance issues - you're the only one I've found so far having the exact same problem using the Steam Link.
1080TI Windows 10.
There's a mod in Nexus Mods that disables vsync on the loading screen. Having been waiting up to 15 minutes for a load it now takes 5 seconds. Put these 2 little files in your Fallout 4 folder - problem solved..!

Never had issues like this before with worse PC's. I'm thinking the 4k source may be choking the stream to a 1080p TV somehow. No clue how.
Glad I'm not alone.
Nope. But I found out earlier that Fallout 4 will stream using Steam Link if I keep the PC Monitor turned ON. Some other titles I tested will normally work/stream in Steam Link hardware though even if the Monitor is turned OFF.
or follow the headless instructions

His solution won't work for me though because I need to use a DisplayPort connection and not HDMI. That is a requirement for Adaptive Gync to work on an AMD Freesync Monitor. I think my issue is connected to how a game like Fallout 4 processes instructions coming from the Nvidia Control Panel software. I am guessing the fix should probably come from Bethesda to patch their game. A more modern title like Deathstranding works just fine through Steam Link hardware even if my PC Monitor is turned OFF. I just haven't noticed though if the Adaptive Gsync feature is still working in-game if I do that.
No worries, I can still play Fallout 4 through Steam Link if I want. I just have to keep my PC Monitor turned ON... or I can just directly play it on the Host PC. Anyhow, thanks for the tips! :-)
Now, my next problem is launching No Man's Sky in Steam Link. But that's OOT. Many thanks to those who have tried to assist me here.
EDIT: To confirm if Gsync is working, check the G-SYNC Compatible Indicator option under the Display menu of the Nvidia Control Panel. Remember, you have to select an option under the Display section on the left side of the panel first for the Display dropdown menu to appear.
When you have this checked, you will notice on the upper-right section of the in-game screen will indicate "G-SYNC" in green color text. But keep in mind that this will only work if your game is in Full Screen mode.
