Steam link disconnecting after a few mins
I'm trying to figure out why my Steam link keeps disconnecting from Steam. When I log into the link it connects just fine to my computer and the network test says there is zero frame rate loss and the connection is around 5 mb/s. After about 5-7 mins of playing any type of game from No Man's Sky to The Binding of Isaac it will lose connection to Steam. This problem is happening on both of my Links, I have tried both wireless and wired and it still occurs, my computer is connected over Wi-Fi.
Edit: Also my computer is running Windows 10 and both of the links are up to date.

few things, settings on link side, settings on host side, (5mbps is slow) what is your router name and model, pc network adapter name and model, how many other wireless networks are interfering, 5mbps is really slow connection (we are talking about home network not internet speed i hope)

the router that I'm using is an Apple Airport Extreme. Normally the only thing thats using the Wi-Fi is my PC.

Also when I do the network test on the steam link, which is where I thought it was the 5 MB/s, says frame loss: 0% network time: 5.31 ms and network variance: 15:45 ms
more data mate, airport is nice router, but there are 5 variations or more (give me number i will find what i need), pc (what network adapter is there), and what are your settings (are you using mac, linux, windows)

the Model number for the router is A1408, my Wi-Fi adapter that my computer is using is a Netgear model A6210 and my computer is running Windows 10 64-bit.
so there is an bad info, airport is 5th generation so only N connection but it can work, be sure you are using 5ghz network (not 2.4) to do it, turn on link go in settings=>streming=>=> set wifi band to 5ghz only, then turn on performance overlay (settings=>streaming=> advanced=>performance overlay), check numbers, see what delay you have and ping and badwith

Setting it to 5ghz seemed like its gonna work, I was able to play for about an hour before it disconnected again but I was able to go back into the game where it left off at with the sound back and everything and I was still able to play it for about another 30 mins before I logged off with zero frame rate loss. I'm hoping this fixed the issue in the long run so thank you for your help kind sir.
you're welcome, have fun, and slowly think about new airport (A1521 or higher) eventually something from other maufacturers (asus, linksys, netgear), it is good time to do it in next 6 months

best regards misi333k

have a nice weekend :steamhappy:
