how to get rid of the Streaming Microphone and Steam Speakers on the Device Manager
I used the steam link once on my desktop and then I think some drivers was installed. Now I have 3 devices listed on my Device Manager:
Microphone (Steam Streaming Microphone)
Speakers (Steam Streaming Microphone)
Speakers (Steam Streaming Microphone)

Since I am not using the steam link anymore, I want to get rid of there devices. Anyway they are not real devices plugged in my computer. But I tried to uninstall the devices and didn't work. As long as I reboot my computer or scan for hardware changes, they get back.

I don't understand why there devices can keep there when my computer has already no connection with the steam link and why I can not uninstall them. Any idea steam community? Thanks in advance.

I've got the same problem and until 20 minutes ago I was reading this post. I want to post a solution for all the users that have the same issue.

How to remove the Steam Streaming Speakers/Microphone

1. Go to Sound Settings
2. Disable the "Steam Streaming Speakers" (SSS in short)
3. Right Click on SSS and click on properties
4. Once it's open click on the "Properties" inside the "Controller information" box
5. Near the bottom left corner there's a button called "Change settings" that requires Administrative rights... click it
6. Once the properties window refreshes go to Driver Tab
7. Click on "Uninstall Device"
8. Click again on the uninstall button once the new window appear.

Warning: Don't check on "Delete the driver software for this device" or you'll uninstall Steam as well.
Once it's uninstalled close all properties windows and you're done. No device shown anymore. And no device switch is performed automatically anymore. Have fun :)

I found also just disabling unwanted devices in what is called the "Sound Control Panel" nowadays worked for my purposes too.
that works until you want to use them again

the problem is with windows not reverting back to the last used audio devices when they are added/removed
disabling all unused devices helps so it only has 1 to revert back to when the other is removed

You just "re-enable" them again... no need to remove anything.

This doesn't uninstall Steam, lmao, what nonsense. baffling.

FYI to anyone here, you should definitely tick the box to delete the driver software. You should also restart your PC for best practices after doing this.

I know this is an old thread, but it came up frequently in search results, and I'm on a Mac. I figured out how to get rid of these drivers and thought I'd share.

Note: I'm using Monterey, and I don't plan to use SteamLink again any time soon. If I do I can probably reinstall the drivers (which did not require a reboot to install).

Before I did this, I used AppCleaner to uninstall SteamLink, but it didn't take out the audio drivers.

Go to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins.
You should see a folder called HAL. For me, these were the only files in the HAL folder:

* SteamStreamigMicrophone.driver
* SteamStreamingSpeakers.driver

...so I deleted the entire folder.

After I restarted, the two virtual drivers were gone from the Sound menu bar item.

If you need to reinstall the drivers and you have the Steam app installed on your Mac, the SteamStreamingAudioInstaller.pkg can be found here:

~/Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam.AppBundle/Steam/Contents/MacOS/

If you can't find it through the UI, just search for the file name and be sure to include system files in the search.

Hope this is helpful to someone else.

Yeah I tried it, but nothing new happened. Well, except the fact that they randomly connected my ps4 controller's earphone that doesn't even work.

For some reason it doesn't even show my speakers. My pc is just ignoring when I plug them in.

Couldn't find it, this is currently what I see in the Sounds tab.
It used to be saying "Speakers" and "Microphone"
After I uninstalled them, I didn't have any sounds.
