Having trouble with Steam Link USB passthrough for Gamecube controller adapter
So, I emulate Gamecube games with the Dolphin Emulator on my PC. I installed a driver that allows my computer to recognize the Wii U - Gamecube controller adapter so I can use Gamecube controllers to play. It works flawlessly when I'm just on my PC.

I'm trying to use my Steam Link to stream this to a different room. A mouse and keyboard work just fine when I plug them into the Steam Link's USB ports, but for some reason, no combination of ports seem to work for my Gamecube controller adapter. Am I missing something?

Just to be clear, I'm NOT trying to use this setup to play Steam games -- I'm trying to play games on the Dolphin Emulator using a Gamecube controller with the Wii U - Gamecube controller adapter.

Why would I need to use software to pass this adapter through my Steam Link but not a mouse and keyboard?

Also, what do you mean one device? Do you mean one as in, the four-port adapter? Or do you mean one as in one Gamecube controller total?

steam emulates the k/m inputs the link gives it
controllers are emulated as x360 via xinput or dinput not raw

if you use virtualhere the pc will be able to use the links usb port as its own

if you use multiple controllers plugged into a powered usb hub you will need the fulll ver to use all connected devices

if its a single usb dongle with 4 controllers, the free ver would work

Seems ridiculous that the Steam Link won't do this right out of the box. That's pretty disappointing. I could just be an idiot, but I was led to believe that the USB ports pass through to my PC without needing any further setup.

Thanks a bunch for directing me to this software! I really appreciate the help.

Actually, one more thing. Do you know if using this software will actually limit the number of things I can have plugged into the Steam Link at any given time? For example, I can currently use my Steam Controller, a mouse and a keyboard (3 USB ports). Does the free version of this let me emulate from ONE of those ports, and let me use the other two normally, or will it render the other two useless?

Sorry, I never actually got around to thanking you! As soon as I got the damn system working, I ended up stuck in my chair with my face glued to the TV. You helped me put and end to about a 4-hour problem and a lot of frustration. Wish this feature was free out of the box, but it was worth every penny now that I can play Gamecube games in the front room with my controller just like the old days. I really appreciate your help!
