cat5e is fine designed for gigabit
the pinout is the same, only diff is the ammount of crosstalk in the cable itself
the link only has a 10/100 port and does not support gigabit
its wifi can be faster since n starts at 150mb/s
more importantly are you using powerline adapters, those are crap and can create more lag and other devices can interfere easily with them
cat 6 is for 1000mbps 5e is for 100mbps max, good quality cables works up to 150-200 mbps but not stable cus they are not designed to work with so high bandwith
back to topic, there can be double NAT problems, set up one router as a bridge and setup second one properly
