it looks like the bt connecting on the link is kinda borked for now
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9221-RTID-4643
However, this doesn't seem to be the case. Wired connection does seem to work, but pairing wirelessly via Bluetooth ends with an error. No input from the controller is registered in wireless mode. I tried
- updating Steam Link's firmware
- opting in the Beta branch
- factory resetting the Link
- updating the controller's firmware using Xbox Accessories app on Windows 10
None of this helped. I could try to return the controller and get a refund, unless someone has some further ideas on what to try. The elite controller itself feels quite nice. I would like to keep it if possible, but without a good wireless connection its not an option. I'm using the default Link wireless dongle btw, I read somewhere that the dongles that are sold separately wouldn't even work with the Link.if you are having troubles, try plugging the controller into a pc and use the xbox app to update its firmware
