Just because they can connect to it doesn't mean that it just works.'
EDIT: looks like the beta supports that controller. Did you run the beta? http://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/
downloaded xbox accessories off the windows marketplace, plugged in controller, updated firmware, tried syncing with steam link again. STILL NOPE.
I've tried using the beta and public builds for steam link, tried checking for updates.
EVERYTHING IS UPDATED
No update available"
steamlink public version 518. apparently beta version 518 too. "No updates available"
So really, tell me what update I can do here that magically fixes everything.
Same error every time.
"bluetooth communication failed. Connection timed out"
and I called you idiot because you didn't properly read my problem, gave a smug response that suggested I do something I'd said I'd done. Then just said yours is working so meh.
Useless comment why did you even leave it?
I missed the one sentence reading your long ass rant that said you updated it, sue me.
Is this a region thing? Anyone else stuck at version 518 from the UK?
I knew it was either the steam link or the controller that was outdated. Maybe next time hold your tongue and check things more thoroughly before bashing someone giving you some advise.
It says that there is no update to be installed. I click the check for updates button and it doesn't find any.
Anybody would expect that to mean that it is up to date.
And seeing as I already told you that I did try updating everything, you're still an idiot for asking if I'd updated it.
If you're going to skim read and post nothing useful, just stop answering and wait for someone who knows how to force a steamlink to update if the software won't do it.
And yes, I tried the beta...
What a weak excuse, you know damn well that you screwed up and now you're trying to save face. Don't worry though this will be my last post, I spent more time arguing with someone that can't admit they were wrong than I would have liked.
So, if anyone's reading this that's had the same problem and has scrolled past all these useless comments, here's how to actually fix it.
Just reset the steamlink back to factory settings.
It will look really odd, with an unfamiliar ugly menu,
but you can select check for updates by hitting Y for settings and then scrolling down.
It will then spend an hour updating, back to the familiar menu you know, and (hopefully) the most recent build.
Must be something about that version number that got stuck, as every time I checked for updates it said it was up to date, and I no reason to not trust it!
Hope this helps, as ever, expect glitches when dealing with the steam link
