Wi-Fi Adapter
Since my wireless connection is ♥♥♥♥ and there's an extra slot in the Link, would a wi-fi stick improve performance?

Could also try a powerline adapter as well.

Wireless can be trickier than just upgrading the Link.

1. Make sure the wi-fi router is up to par. Steam Link supports 802.11ac over 5GHz, make sure the router does as well. Most of the ISP supplied routers are not up to the task of providing wi-fi reliably.

2. Ensure line of sight between the router and the Link. Tables and chairs are probably fine but a TV for example will effectively shield the Link and downgrade the connection.

Fraza is correct. I tried my ISP provided router and it's garbage. Definitely use your own 5Ghz smart router if you can spend $150-200.

I would not say should, it's a "maybe" with several caveats at best. The wifi hardware in the Link is nothing special, but you'd need a hell of a USB wifi stick to do better, as USB wifi is not exactly known for its... robustness.
