[SOLVED] Xbox360 wired Controller disconnects on vibration
I have a wired xbox360 USB controller for PC which works fine plugged into my computer.

When it is plugged into my Steam Link, whenever a game makes the controller rumble/vibrate, the controller automatically disconnects and reconnects. Sometimes it doesn't bother reconnecting and becomes unresponsive.

This only happens when games make the controller vibrate. Apart from this, the controller works absolutely fine.

Does anybody know a fix for this?

thanks

edit : Solved! I had a usb extension cable plugged in and it was this which was causing the issue. Once I plugged the controller directly into the steam link, everything worked fine. Thanks for the comments and help.

Could be an issue with power. I have run into similar issue with multiple 360 controlles plugged into an unpowered USB hub. When rocket league vibrated the controller of more than one player at a time they would all disconnect.

This was because on an unpowered hub the devices all have to share the 500mA current from the upstream port. On a powered hub every port has it's own 500mA current limit.

Solution was to switch to a powered hub. Or try connecting the controller directly to the steam link, or to a different port.

I agree with the above recommendations. Try a powered USB hub and/or make sure the controller is plugged directly into the Steam Link.

Also, are you using any USB extension cables?

If the controller was already plugged directly into the Link, what other USB devices do you have connected to the Link? More controllers?

This is what was causing the issue. I've marked this as solved to help any one else who sits just a little too far away from the tv!

That's great!

You could also use a wall-powered USB hub to get a bit further away from TV, without using a USB extension cable. Then the USB power comes from the hub and doesn't have to travel through a long extension cable.
