Steam Link

Distance from host computer?
Is there a certain distance from the "host computer" that the steam link will only work in? I tried to use it on a TV pretty much directly upstairs from my computer and it wouldn't find the host computer. Yet, when I plugged it in to the TV right by my computer it found it automatically. Would a WIFI booster help with this problem?

I guess I am looking to see how far away other people have their steam link from their host computer. Thank you!

My advice is only use a Lan line-Its not recommend to use wireless with the steam-link regardless of the speed of the network- I run ours in the Living room and the host Computer is in the last bedroom (condo) I made small hole in the wall and ran a Lan-line from my router directly to the Pc (host pc) that way everything is hooked-up via lan line instead of wireless.

Find a way just be creative dude. Unless of course you have some (Crazy) fast wireless.Good luck man.

I am wireless and the Steam Link is at one end of the house and the host computer at the other end. I would say about about 50 to 60 ft with three walls between the units.

No lag and there is no difference from when I had the computer connected directly to the TV without Steam Link. YMMV.

Wireless performance depends on alot of factors. It is difficult to say what performance would you get.

You can also try powerline adapters with AC passtrough. I am using them and performance is very good.

Thank you all for your responses. I will see what I can work out with those suggestions. Have a great day!
