Get Netflix to Stream Properly?
So, Netflix has very poor support for PC. The only thing you can get that streams properly (but is slow as f***) is the Windows 10 Netflix app (or windows 8 too I guess). Problem is the app shows a black screen over the Steam Link, while it works fine at the monitor. I can only guess this is some form of DRM to prevent people from recording Netflix. So is there any settings somewhere or something I can do to get Netflix to stream properly with the Link?

I have read an article about it. Yes Netflix is using some special Windows DRM to prevent people from recording Netfix. I don't think Steam link stream that. It is hardware supported DRM. Did you give it a try netflix in steam web browser?

Since Steam is basically Chrome it still has the same poor support. I really hope they will fix web browser support. If not then I will have to hope they will keep up with consoles and have good support for the Nintendo Switch.

I had a play around with Amazon prime a while ago and managed to get it working using kodi media centre. You could try that with Netflix. The link has its own build of kodi which would mean it could work independently from the pc. Worth a shot.

I tried instaling Kodi and it doesn't seem to have a netflix player.

How about adding browser to library as an non Steam game or just using desktop mode and browser.

Netflix still has poor support for browsers regardless of the Link, that would have no effect.

What kind of poor support ?
Low playback resolution ?
I agree that at some level. Only Chrome is working for me. (Linux DRM support.)
Using browser / Netflix with Steam Controller has never been easyer.

From my tests and what I have seen online, Firefox and Chrome support high quality audio but not 1080p display. Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge support 1080p but not high quality audio.
Looks like they have fixed audio for edge now though but the same DRM bs makes it useless. Netflix workin hard to make sure no one can use them.

Doctor you could try one of the many kodi builds which can provide alternatives to netflix. Try googling 'Kodi pulse build' and follow the instructions on the first link :D Any issues post back here.

I know this is an older thread, but I thought I would add to it.
To get the Steam Link to stream Netflix from my windows 7/8.1 machine this is what I did.

-Added Chrome as a Non-Steam game to my library

-Went into Chrome and made sure that my add-blocking software was disabled for the Netflix website.

-Set Chrome to login to my netflix

-In My Steam Library, I opened up the Google Chrome Properties, Under “set launch options” I added “--start-fullscreen --app=https://www.netflix.com/browse”

Some work needs to be done to optimize the controls, but it works quite nicely so far.

Can you do this with Edge or the Netflix app? Netflix has no support for 1080p streaming in Chrome.

Can't do anything because of the DRM on win10 app, I sent a ticket to Netflix support saying I cancel my subscription untill they fix the problem, I suggest everyone to do it, the more requests they will receive, the more attention they will have to the problem.
