Is it still possible/necessary to use the bandwidth limit hack posted back in 2015?
I just got one of these and I'm curious if the advice in this thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam_Link/comments/3pj3ts/uncapping_the_30_megabit_bandwidth/?st=jam40yi9&sh=730f2dfb

and this blog post:
http://mcd1992.blogspot.com/2015/10/removing-steam-link-bandwidth-limit.html

...about uncapping the bandwidth limit and raising the hardware limit is still relevant? I haven't run the performance overlay to see what it's doing just yet, but it seemed pretty nice at Unlimited/Beautiful (although latency was a little high). I'm just curious if people are still using this hack (or if it even still works) 2 years later. I haven't found any discussions about it since.

Was wondering about this too. I tried it with 50k kbit/s with a USB drive and it worked fine. After the first time you can remove the usb drive from steam link and it will keep the --hardwarebitratelimit you wrote in the .txt file. So it will be the "new" default value.

Also i want to ask if there is another fix for Windows PC to change the cap of bitrate without using a USB Drive. Tried changing the localconfig.vdf file values
from "BandwidthLimitKBit" "-1"
to "BandwidthLimitKBit" "50000"
but it reverted to -1 when i checked again the file on my PC.
Any suggestions?

I'm linking your reddit post too, as there is an answer (top comment) which is quite satisfying there: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam_Link/comments/7j75mk/is_the_bandwidth_hack_posted_in_2015_still/

tl;dr: No, scaling and bandwidth detection improved a lot.
