FIFA 18 and DS4 on Steam Link
I am using my DS4 on Steam Link via Bluetooth.
FIFA 18 does not recognize my DS4 at all.

Has anyone found a solution, yet?

My steps:
- added FIFA 18 as a game on Steam
- set Origin to launch as administrator
- disabled Origin overlay

If I am connecting my DS4 to my PC (Windows 10), I can use it in Big Picture Mode and in FIFA 18 with no problem whatsoever.
But that means I have to unpair the DS4 everytime from Steam Link, set it up again on my PC, and reverse all steps if I want to pair it again with my Steam Link.

Maybe it is possible to pair my DS4 with Steam Link AND my computer separately, and the controller is recognized and used by whichever host (PC or Steam Link) is running and wakes the controller first?

Please help me with this if you can.

Okay, so my problem was I could still access Steam Overlay in Fifa 18 with my DS4, but couldn't even get past the title screen in Fifa.
It didn't make a difference whether I used cable or bluetooth to connect the controller.
I tried multiple solutions found on gO_Ogle and here on Steam. None of those worked.
Even worse, somebody suggested to run Origin as administrator and I later found out it makes it impossible to use Steam overlay and your controller in Fifa.
I also wanted to add Fifa to Steam separately to save me the trouble of first running Origin off Steam and then click on Fifa in Origin again every time to launch. People said it's impossible to have any sort of overlay enabled and you would have to add Origin, not Fifa, to Steam.

Anyways, after several hours of trial and error I finally found a solution. Steam overlay is fully functional and I can play Fifa 18 with the DS4 on my Steam Link.

[TLDR]
Play Fifa 18 on Steam Link with DS4 cable/bluetooth
(also works with Fifa 17)
  1. Open Origin. Rightclick on Fifa 18 inside your library and go to Properties.
  2. Disable Origin overlay for Fifa by unticking the box Enable Origin In Game for FIFA 18.

    If you want to skip the Fifa Launcher and language selection everytime you launch Fifa, follow these steps, otherwise skip this part:
  3. If you've just installed Fifa 18 before, open the Launcher and make any changes you want in Settings. Close the Launcher again if it is running.

    Go to "FIFA 18\FIFASetup\", open "config.ini" and add "AUTO_LAUNCH = 1" like this:
    LAUNCH_EXE = fifa18.exe
    SETTING_FOLDER = 'FIFA 18'
    AUTO_LAUNCH = 1

    Go to "FIFA 18\Data\", open "locale.ini"
    Change "USE_LANGUAGE_SELECT = 1" to "USE_LANGUAGE_SELECT = 0"

  4. In Steam, add FIFA18.exe to your Steam library.
  5. Go to your Settings, click Controller at the bottom, then access General Controller Settings on the right side. Make sure to tick the box Xbox Configuration Support. This will register your DS4 inside Fifa.
  6. Wake your Steam Link.
  7. Before you click Start playing, access the Steam Link Settings on the left side of the screen.
  8. Go to VirtualHere and enable support for SRT.
  9. Go back to your Steam Link home screen and click Start playing to connect to your Steam host.
  10. Navigate to Fifa 18 in your Steam Library. Access Manage Shortcut.
  11. Go to Controller Options. Tick the box Enable Overlay on non-Steam-Game. Then go back to Manage Shortcut.
  12. You may need to choose a proper controller configuration for your DS4. Go to Controller Configuration and then Browse Configs at the bottom. Choose a template, e.g. Gamepad.
  13. Exit all menus. Launch Fifa 18 with your controller.
  14. Press X on the title screen to proceed and play with your DS4. You can still access Steam overlay from within the game, only Origin overlay is disabled.

Enjoy the game!

No, everything just runs fine. Make sure it is not running in the background. Just alt+tab to Fifa 18 on your computer if it does and move the mouse cursor out of sight.

I have a problem. I start it and all works, but at the screen I'm asked to hit a key, i can't do anything with my XBOX One Controller... Need some help.

I guess its like the Link doesn't get the config? But i don't know..

I did, but do I actually need to buy the version from Steam for ~12€ ?

When I check how the buttons are bind, my "A" button is like the spacebar, and thats for the beginning so confusing :D

Exit Origin client before launching FIFA from Steam. Launching FIFA from Steam will open Origin (you will see it from the screen) but your controller works fine in FiFA game

@kenQi, I'm trying to get this working for Fifa 20, but I'm struggling to enable to steam overlay for non-steam games. Can you guide me more specifically on this step?

You need to make sure you followed all the steps in my description above.
It worked flawlessly for Fifa 18 and 19. Unfortunately, I could not test it on Fifa 20.

Off the bat I would assume that you don't run Fifa as administrator or haven't disabled Origin overlay.

Just add Fifa via OriginSteamOverlayLauncher as a non-Steam game
